1985 BMW K-Series

This bike was purchased when I lived in Baltimore Maryland, from a man that brought it up from North Carolina. He owned the bike for a year and had most of the electrical and mechanical systems rebuilt at Bob's BMW outside Washington DC. He spent about $3,000 on the bike in 2003 on work that included the following: Fairing & Ignition Systems including an updated fuel injection module ($700), Fuel system rebuilt including new pump ($800) Rebuilt shaft & final drive, new shock($1400). I work on the bike myself and I replaced the cooling fan and switch, starter motor, and had tires replaced. I have all the receipts from Bob's that describe in detail the work done. I was side tracked by restoring a 1975 airhead and this bike has not been ridden much in the past 4 years. I put almost 12,000 miles on it in the 7 years I have owned it, mostly in the first 3 years. I always wanted to take the fairing off and restore it - someone had ridden it through something that pock marked some of the front surfaces. I had time this summer and decided to strip off all the fairing and repaint it. As you can see it brings the appearance of the bike up to the mechanical condition. The rear tire has about 1000 miles and the front less than 500. The saddle is not original, but very nice. The bike has 2 saddle bags and a rear bag that acts as a seat back (see third photo). There is also a tank bag that I have never used. Feel free to ask anything about the bike - I work on the bike so can answer most technical questions. At Bob's they referred to this as a European model - the would know!
