Vehicle Detail
This is a 1960 Volkswagen body that was put on a shortened 1955 Chevy chassis sometime in the 60's. I think it was nicely done. The car was a drag car and a daily driver until 1982. It is titled as a 1955 chevy and the underpinnings are all chevy so parts are easy to buy, reliable, and up to the job at hand. The car ran several V8's over the years and the last one was a 400 sbc with a turbo 400 transmission with a 3500 RPM stall. It's got a 4.11 posi rearend I THINK but it might be 4.56 gears. I don't remember which ones are in there. This is a pretty cool old car that ran 12.4's with crappy 400 and would absolutely fly with a built small block or big block. The 400 and the transmission are both leaking like british motorcycles so they will need resealed or replaced. Still a very cool old car that was engineered a LOT better than most V8 bugs from the day (I say that like there a tons of V8 bugs out there!) It's cool and you need it. I finally pulled the car out of the garage and can take pictures of anything you need to see. I'll add some engine and transmission pictures tonight. Not many old drag cars out there with a CLEAR TITLEOn Sep-09-10 at 10:31:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Lots of questions regarding the condition of the bug body and mechanicals. The mechanicals are all there...plus a BUNCH of extras from the various engines that were run over the years. I just added pictures of it all sitting in a trailer in my garage. The car was running but leaking too badly to drive. It needs resealed or better yet, rebuilt. The body is good as you can see except for the typical VW pan and channel rust at the bottom. For a unibody VW, that's always way bad news. For a full framed passenger car like this on is (on a 1955 chevy), it just means putting new floors in. The rest of the body and glass are nice. Or rebody the whole thing with a convertible bug if you are feeling froggy. Whatever strikes your fancy. Let me know if you need other pictures or info. Thanks.
