Vehicle Detail
OK, here's the story.. I listed this truck before...TWICE.. someone used the buy it now option, but they were not a registered member of eBay (not sure how that works), so eBay ended the transaction... I re-listed it a second time, but some dude with a feedback score of 2 decided to just click 'buy it now' on my auction to come and kick the tires... and then tells me, “I'll give you a call if I'm interested.” I just about had a melt-down... If you are not going to buy this truck, don't click on ANYTHING on my auction... I've had it with idiots who won't read eBay protocol prior to poking around on people's auctions... That being said... I replaced the radiator, but found the problem to be the water pump. I began to replace it, but found that the water pump is located on the front of the engine, behind the fan and timing belt. I do not have the tools, time, expertise to fix this... someone who has a garage or the right tools can do this, but I do not... I have the new radiator in it already, a new battery (brand new... i bought it when i bought the radiator because the old batter was from 2004), and a water pump. The new water pump comes with the truck... FYI; another eBay member emailed me about his truck.. he has one that's similar... he says it's anywhere from 2 to 5 hours of work to replace the pump, depending on whether or not you are good with a wrench (or if you have a mechanic do it, which is what I would do if I were to keep it...), you would have about $850 in it... The Good: My wife has driven this truck for 2 years every day. We replaced the brakes and rotors when we bought it 2 years ago, as well as the driver's side mirror.. it has never broken down on us until this problem came up. These motors run forever... the parts for them are cheap... water pump was $50... I bought the new radiator on eBay, brand new, for $150 which is average for a new radiator... next to no rust... The Bad: It has dents on the hood, driver's side rear door, and rear bumper... it has some scratches in the paint, so it's not showroom quality... interior is dirty and needs a good cleaning... the glove box needs a new handle... the driver's side window needs repair, you can hear the motor running, but something is loose, so the glass doesn't move (a/c works very well, so it's really not an issue, so i never fixed it)... burns a little oil... maybe half a quart in a week or 2... engine ticks, so if you're gonna keep it longer than a year or two, you'll have to have the top end looked at.. if you rebuild the top end (probably about $400 to $500), i have no doubts that this truck would run another 200,000 miles, these trucks are solid... Bottom Line: If you're looking for a good ride to and from work, this is your truck... If you're looking for a a new truck for $600, keep looking... let me know where you find one, i'd like to have one too...This is a pickup only auction... you will need to have tow straps to tow it, or a trailer. If you are a top-notch mechanic, and you would like to come and put the pump into it at my house, you're welcome to do that as well.. then you could drive it home...
