Vehicle Detail
You’re bidding on a bonafide Barn Find: a classic 1964 Renault Dauphine stored in an Eastern Pennsylvania barn since 1976. I personally pulled this car out of storage in 2010 after 34 years. The paint is the original baked enamel, buffed out to a beautiful shine. The wheel rims were sand blasted and repainted but the rest of the car’s finish is untouched. The brakes are new including brake lines, shoes, master and slave cylinders and new wheel bearings. The engine is new with most of the rebuild performed by one of the best machine shops in the state of Indiana. The gas tank and fuel lines are new. The original interior was refreshed with restored door panels, headliner and seats. The radio is original and works. This is an almost entirely original car that has been my daily driver all summer. It starts, drives and stops perfectly, gets nearly 48 miles to the gallon of gas and handles like a sports car. It’s an absolute joy to drive. Because it’s all-original there are some minor imperfections. There is a small tear in the headliner and some tears in the driver’s seat. The paint, though it shines brightly, is scratched in spots from boxes being stacked on the car while in storage (see photo). There are some minor dents on the fenders from things bumping into the car while in storage, but a good body man with a hammer and bucking bar could smooth them all out. There are no dents on the roof. The only real sheet metal damage is on the rear left fender where a tractor apparently backed into it (see photo). There is virtually NO rust on this vehicle. The floorboards are solid (see photos) and the door bottoms like new. There is some minor surface rust in a couple of spots on the paint (see photos) but all of it minor in nature. All lights and accessories work except for the fuel gauge. The heater also needs to be connected. In short, this is a beautifully preserved classic French beauty that you can drive with pride and confidence just as it is, or, with a little investment, turn into a real show winner.
