This is a 1983 BMW 533i. (E28). 3.2 L I6, 181hp, 5 speed manual. 147,037 miles. Burgundy. Produced exclusively for the US market and done so in limited quantities. In fact it was specifically marketed as a "limited production" vehicle. There were only 10,000 produced over a two year ('83-'84) period. It was the fastest sedan sold in the US in 1983. This is not to be confused with the 528e (`82-`88), which looks identical from 50 feet away, which was mass produced, (over a 100,000). The 533i is hard enough to find in any condition because of the limited production but this one is in good condition and I am the second owner. I bought it in March 2010. It shows no accidents on the history report and has every manual that originally came with the vehicle. What it has: All the manuals in unbelievable condition. Solid engine with smooth clutch. A body in great condition for it's age. ALL original tools and extra bulbs, Nothing is missing. (there is surface rust on the tools but it can be remedied). I purchased new "BMW" rondels for the front and back and they have been installed. Original spare wheel and jack. I had almost 700.00 dollars worth of maintenance done when I first purchased the vehicle back in March. I have the records and one of the pics I posted show specifically what was done. In addition, I recently replaced coolant temperature sensor which costs 24 dollars but the labor put it at just over 80. New battery. Cruise control works. All exterior and interior lights work as well, this includes the fog lights. I also replaced a bad window switch for 25 dollars which was a simple install. All power windows work well, also the switch for the moon roof which is smooth with NO hesitation. Also had a small hole in the trunk professionally filled. I took a couple of pictures underneath to demonstrate how clean it was under the body and exhaust. It is very clean vehicle. It has a couple of minor scratches but nothing major. It also has had ONE owner for the full 27 years of it's existence. I am the second owner and I bought it in March 2010. NO accidents as the history report shows! What it doesn't have: Noticeable rust or major dents, dings, or scratches. Does not have the original shift knob. It does have a nice smooth walnut finished knob shown in the pictures. It does not have the original wheels but rather more contemporary Borbets, also shown in the pictures. It does not have tinted windows so it shows clean. The interior passenger door handle needs to be replaced and I have a new one that I will include with purchase. From Wikipedia: 533i: A North American only model sold from 1983-1984 in limited quantities in response to customer complaints that the 528e had lower performance figures than the 1981 528i that it replaced. Equipped with a 181 hp (135 kW) 3.2L M30 6-cylinder engine as fitted to the larger 633csi and 733i, it produced 195 lb·ft (264 N·m). torque. The compression ratio was 8.8:1. Top Speed was 134 mph.
