Vehicle Detail

RARE 93 Polo Green with only 39,000 miles and always garage kept. Everything, and I mean everything, works as well as the day it left the factory. The air is cold and automatically controlled, the computer shows no "codes" and the engine simply roars when asked. This car cost in excess of $60,000 when new and it shows. The fine Italian bodywork still draws stares and comments in the parking lots. Remember this is a 93, and that means a lot in Allante talk. To begin with, the 93 is the only Allante with the legendary 300 horsepower Northstar engine. This car was rated faster than a Corvette in 1993, and had the highest horsepower to weight ratio of any American car. The 0-60 rating was below 7 seconds. But let's get back to the 93 distinction. The seats are to kill for, because in 93 Cadillac gave up on the Recaro racing seats and substituted butter soft leather seats that you can sleep in. I take this car to Florida for golf in January, and there truly is no better road car made before or since. As you can see from the photos, the trunk is magnificent, complete with Pinifarina carpeting throughout, and enough room for two sets of clubs and suitcases as well. Put on the cruise, top up, and you are riding in a Cadillac quiet with an elecronic suspension. Smooth but eager. Punch it up to 85 and you wonder why they have speed limits at all And get South, put the top down, and let it roar. This car will corner with the best of the current BMW's or Mercedes and yet it is a fabulous day driver or work car. Let's talk price. These cars are finally going back up in price and the 93 is leading the pack, with the rare Polo Green's at the top of the heap. Kelley's Blue Book puts the retail price at $17,500, and it is worth it. I just gave her a weekly bath, and there is one minor scratch on the passenger door which can probably be rubbed out. The only other flaw, if you want to call it that is the leather on the driver's side is showing signs of wear. If I keep the car, one panel will probably have to be replaced in a year or so. The last time I did that, it cost about $200. But as I said, the 93 has a glove soft leather interior, and I find minor wear points attractive. As I said, everything works. Lights, brakes, top pull-down, windows, AC, power seats. Oops. The CD does not work...but the Bose stereo system is concert quality. Particularly with the top down! This car even has the tiny flippers on the sides that cover up the boot slots...all in perfect shape. What else can I say? She's a beauty, but alas it is time to go. College tuition is due, and garage space is limited. Bid with confidence. I have set the reserve at $5,000 below KBB...hint.
