Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale a beautiful 1955 Chrysler Windsor Deluxe sedan. I purchased this car in October of 2009 with the idea of restoring it. It had been sitting in a dry warehouse for 30 years without being moved. The color is cream with a red top and red interior. The car was painted in 1979, but the surface wasn’t prepared properly. Paint looks good from a distance, but not close up. Exterior- The body is in excellent shape- straight, no signs of body work, and no rust. The floors, rockers, and trunk are excellent. The chrome, and there is plenty of it, appears to be original, and is in great shape for a 55 years old car. There is a piece missing from the front bumper, and the vent piece is in the car, but not attached. Interior- The red velour interior was installed in 1979, and has no wear. The rear seat has limo like leg room. There is a handle missing from the heat lever, the cigarette lighter is missing, the rear door lock pulls are missing, and the latch from the passenger rear vent window is missing. I have a key that fits the doors and ignition, but not the key that fits the glove compartment and trunk. Mechanically- The engine is a 301 V-8 (not a Hemi), and it has a dash mounted automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes. The engine runs, but the carb leaks. After sitting for 30 years it needs a carb overhaul. The radiator has a pinhole leak. The air filter is missing. The odometer shows 37,142 original miles, and the person I purchased it from believed this to be accurate. I don't have a title, but do have a bill of sale from the previous owner and documentation to show that he did own the car. As you can see from the pictures below the car is too big for my lift. The only way to get my regular driver under the lift was to let the air out of the Chryslers tires. Not a practical solution once the car is drivable. The car is for sale locally, and so this post can be ended at any time. The car is sold as-is, with no warranty expressed or implied, so please be sure of your intent prior to purchase. I will assist with shipping, but with the fuel leak I can’t take the car anywhere. I welcome any questions. On Aug-21-10 at 16:33:31 PDT, seller added the following information:I have never driven this car, only started it. There may be (and probably are) issues that I am not aware of.
