Vehicle Detail

My 914 has been my daily driver. It is complete and ready for you. It costs about 3 cents a mile in electricity to drive. Since electricity prices are regulated and gasoline prices are not, this figure won't change much as gas prices go through the roof. I did the conversion myself over about a year. (I'm a mechanical engineer and a retired college professor.) I used the Electro Automotive VoltsPorsche AC kit with the Azure Dynamics AC drive train, the same drive train that's in the new electric Ford Transit. The Azure system is well proven and very adjustable (with the included programming cable and your laptop). The ElectroAuto kit is also a design proven by large numbers of kit builders. (For more info look up the kit at www.electroauto.com) The Porsche is a California 1974 model that I found in Arizona. This car has new tires, a new windshield, a new interior carpets and seats, new shocks and brakes, Elephant Racing front suspension bushings, battery pack of U.S.Batteries (8VGCHC- 183 amp-hr), and a Sony radio/CD player. Paint is good but a little faded (from that western desert sunshine). It has the Azure Dynamics AC24 3 phase alternating current motor (attached to the factory clutch and five speed via a custom adapter) with the DMOC 445 controller/inverter (in the rear trunk) and three nice welded polypropylene plastic battery boxes in the front and rear. It has regenerative braking for longer range and reduced brake wear. The charger is a Zivan NG3- 120 volt that recharges overnight and you can charge most anywhere. (There are more 120 volt receptables than there are gasoline stations.) The DC/DC converter that keeps the cars original 12 volt system (lights, radio, horn, etc.) charged is also a Zivan. Acceleration is modest. I've not driven over 60 miles on a charge although under optimum conditions it is supposed to go much further. Electro Automotive claims 125 miles under optimal conditions. Using 27 Kilowatts and new batteries it can reach 70 mph on the highway, but that eats amps. A "power" switch allows 36Kw. Regeneration is switchable, although I leave it on most of the time. Last year I moved the car to just north of Atlanta, Georgia. It has GA tags and is titled as electric. Spare parts (brake pads, spare half shaft, cables), a Haynes Manual, Electro Auto instruction book, and a complete wiring diagram are included. Service is minimal as there are no spark plugs or filters, there is no oil to change or engine to tune. It is said that an electric motor is good for a million miles. Come take a drive. It's fun to be green in a sporty red car. The battery pack no longer has its original range but is still usable to move the car about. I'm still using it for errands around town. A new battery pack is about $1800 and is needed. Its better if YOU buy the new batteries, in case you ever have a problem with one. Swapping the batteries is a straight forward operation. It might be time to consider switching it to lithium batteries for a little more money. I have spent about $28,000 over three years. I had a professional valuation at $24,500 (which didn't consider MY labor). It'll provide a lot of good service for you. I've gotten less able to play with cars and to climb in and out of this sporty little EV. (It was easier 40 years ago when I got my first 914.) Hopefully, you will provide it a good home. One can rarely recoup expenses, much less labor, when either restoring a vehicle or converting a car to an EV. I did both to this car, so here's your chance to get in at a level than is economically justifiable. It turns more heads than a screwdriver. You know you'd like this one. While it's fun to read these ads, I assure you it's more fun to own this car. You can own a red Porsche that's green. The timeless styling seems to make many observers think its a much newer car, but its a 36 year old classic that still wins the race to the fueling station. To see a video of this 914 shot by the St Louis Dispatch, try http://videos.stltoday.com/p/video?id=2437759 Buy this car for less than the cost of the ElectroAutomotive kit. You get the mechanically restored car free and free assembly of the conversion kit. Even usable batteries are included. For more details on my conversion visit http://evalbum.com /1753 E-mail me with any questions. Let's confirm this car is a good choice for you. If you wait to snipe at the end of the auction, you may lose your chance. I only have this one car at this bargain price.
