Vehicle Detail

1969 CB750 Honda sandcast, engine # CB750E-1005203, Frame #CB750-1005559. 4 owners from new. 1st owner bought in Houston Tx. in 1969 while in the service. He moved back to Sioux Falls SD in 1972.2nd owner bought the bike in 1972. In 1973 he started to do what most of us did back in that time frame. He wanted it to look like a chopper. He installed 6" over fork tubes, high rise handlebars, king queen seat, removed the center stand, added a custom side stand because of the added height. Other changes included custom paint to the side covers & tank. He bobbed the front fender, changed rear shocks, installed a later ignition switch on the handlebar, 4 into 1 exhaust, put on the longer chain guard, gas cap, oil filter, & other recall items. Other changes are custom valve covers, point cover, & generator cover. Later he added later style side covers. The good news is that he saved the valve covers, ignition switch, front fender brace, & other small items. Bad news is that when he took the tank & side cover to the painter, evidentially the painter had several Honda gas tanks & gave him back the wrong tank. This was discovered a few days ago when I asked him why it didn't have a wrinkle tank. He modified the air box by enlarging the air inlet hole. Last, he took the counter sprocket cover off, & cut the one edge slightly so he could put a chain guard between it & the engine case. If the drive chain broke, it would go out the back & not mess up the engine case.Owner # 3 bought the bike in 1988. His only change was to give the bike its present blue metallic pant job. He and his wife rode the bike up until 2005, when they bought a Gold Wing.Owner #4, me. I bought the bike in 2007. First, none of us knew the bike was a sandcast, or that that was a big deal. I was looking for parts on a google search, when I stumbled onto sandcast sites. It was then that I started examining what was original & what was stock. I continued to ride the bike to Sturgis in 2007, and a second trip to the Black Hill over Labor Day weekend 2007 (3000 mi. total). I didn't park the bike until the custom side stand broke off this spring. It's hard finding a tree to lean it against every time I would stop. The bike usually starts 1st kick, ( starter needs brushes ) and is a strong runner.I bought a 12/70 frame to get the center & side stand from. This frame will go with the bike. I have tried to give an accurate assessment of the bike in it's present condition, but am no expert on sandcast models.Brouwer Relocation in Sioux Falls is a good & inexpensive bike shipper. their # is 605-333-0620 for a quote.
