This collectable coupe was mechanically re-built by local Mercedes Benz mechanics to use in everyday commute of 75 miles. Most all components, parts regarding mechanical are new, rebuilt or in excellent working order. Since we have owned it, the car has been serviced at Benchmark Motors in Columbia. Was going to restore the car - will not have a place to work on it. The car runs incredibly well. Always starts after just barely turning the key. Oil pressure is good, 3 bar when cold or driving, about 2 bar when hot and idling. No detectable leaks.. Trans shifts as it should; with the strong bump characteristic of the tank like features of these cars. . I driven it to 85 mph with no problems. The Merceds diesels have more power than they are given credit for! Stops well, drives well - currently being driven 60 miles a day for commuting. Being sold because of move will no longer commute, and will not have a space to keep the car to restore the items mentioned below. Power steering, brakes, windows and vacuum system all work fine. These cars routinely go over 500,000 miles without a rebuild. The odometer reads 67000 miles, but I believe this is more like 267000 miles. There are cosmetic issues with the body - a repaint job that was not done well, has blemishes ( see photos). Interior there are typical issues that you may see in the images; driver's seat sags somewhat to the left, there are 3 smaller cracks in the dashboard, the glossy laquer is checking off in a few places on the console, and recently the speedometer stopped working. As a 32 year old car, most of this is to be expected, and all of it is easy to fix. It's the engine and transmissions you really want right. and these as well as brakes, power steering, power windows, etc, are all good. The mechanical condition makes this perfect to keep as a very nice daily driver, or to invest in upgrading the interior and painting the car correctly.. I know these cars well - this type of car could sell for $11,000 for about $6000 worth of investments. There are totally renovated 300CD Coupes for sale up to $25,000 and more.
