1970 428 Cobra Jet FEATURED ON COVER OF MUSCLE CAR REVIEW (8/09). 'Q' Code Cobra Jet finished to exceptional standards both mechanically and cosmetically, with 500 streetable horsepower using the original block, per the engine builder. This car has extensive upgrading to make this a powerful resto rod while retaining the stock body, and is a proven top driven show car with many trophies - that go with the car. The car was completely media blasted to the metal prior to paint. The Mineral Gray with slight metallic is a fabulous color and is highly buffed. The 428cid engine is the original 428 block which was been completely rebuilt. It has Speed Throw pistons, Lemans SCJ rods, Comp cam with 538 lift, Comp lifters, Comp roller rockers, roller camshaft, 428 Police Interceptor aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold, 428 forced Ram Air system, SCJ reworked flywheel, MSD Pro Billet distributor with Flame Thrower cap & ignition, and 428 ford racing valve covers and JBA tri-y headers. The headers are connected to a ceramic aluminized powder coated exhaust system with Flowmasters that also has cut outs operated by electric switch. An enormous B-Cool aluminum radiator with dual electric fans makes sure this will run cool on a very hot day. The engine compartment very is highly detailed in every corner, including a Monte Carlo bar for more stability. The suspension is a Global West underchassis upfront, with a heavy duty front sway bar. The car has 4 wheel disc brakes, and heavy duty fiberglass Flex-i-form springs in the rear that give strong support with light weight; sub-frame connectors were used to stop the body flex. The transmission is a Ford 4-speed modified original top loader, Ford Comp Hurst original shifter connected to a heavy duty custom racing clutch. The rear end is a new 3.50 Richmond with posi-traction. Wheels are 15x8 new Magnum 500 wheels, the front tires are B.F.Goodrich 'G' Force radials 225/60/15, the rears are B.F.Goodrich Drag Radials 275/50/15. These special tires are engineered for this car and have smooth centers to maximize street traction. To improve the handling further, it has a ½" chrome upper rear sway bar installed, and heavy duty shackles hold the axel. All of this work is to make this car perform and handle exceptionally well with the powerful engine, again, from the outside the car looks stock. The chassis is red oxide for showing with mirrors. The custom black leather interior, has original basket weave cut out from the original seats, the seats were covered in black leather with light gray piping to give it the original look using '86 Recaro Ford base racing seats with lumbar support. These seats look great and yield great support and comfort. The rear seat has the matching leather treatment, and the headliner matches the interior. The dash is finished as stock, with new bezels and instruments, the proper tilt steering wheel and a new dash top pad. The stereo is an AM/FM/Cassette player, with an auto electric antenna. The console houses the Hurst Ford shifter and gauges. The Classic California Air Conditioning system makes this a powerful car that can be driven and enjoyed all Summer long. The car draws a crowd everywhere it goes, and the rumble from the 428 is amazing – especially when you use the cut outs. This is a truly beautiful car, fully upgraded and ready to drive & enjoy.
