Vehicle Detail
Relisted due to no-show bidder. If you have zero or negative feedback please contact me before bidding Up for auction is this 1978 Dodge Ramcharger SE. We will really hate to see this go. It's an absolute blast to drive and captures the attention of everyone who sees it...especially JEEP owners. It is original and has been very well taken care of over the past 32 years, it still runs and drives exceptionally well for never having any major over hauls or restoration. Rare removable top included which is really what makes this vehicle so fun. It has few areas that have acquired some minor wear over past 32 years of use but absolutely NO signs of abuse, off roading, or mistreatment. It has been garaged kept and never taken off road for the 5 years I've owned it and to my knowledge I am only the second owner. If you're looking for a great RamCharger to restore you will not be able to find a better starting point or an easier restoration. If you're just looking for something to cruise around in with the top off and have a great time while turning heads or do some off-roading in than its ready to go. I will do my best to fully and accurately describe all its features and conditions. ENGINE / TRANSMISSION Original Dodge 360 cubic inch V8 with Holley 2 barrel carburetor Automatic Transmission with All Wheel Drive transfer case HI, HI-LOC, LO, and LO-LOC settings Replaced the Battery, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, and Ignition Coil this Spring. When I purchased it I had it tuned up with new plugs, wires and distributer cap. Other than those items and regular oil changes I've never had any problems or any other service needed on this vehicle. The engine can be a little cold natured during start ups if it hasn't been driven in a while. This is pretty normal for carbureted engines of this age especially when its a Chrysler/Holley combo. Once it warms up a few minutes it runs, starts and idles fine. We've had it loaded up with friends several times already this season and we've driven it for hours on end with no problems. I've never done any long distance highway driving with it but I will take it out on the highway now and again and it runs and drives just as good at 70mph as it does 30mph. Transmission shifts excellent and all transfer case settings work and engage smoothly. BODY Original Two-Tone Orange and White Paint Original Removable Hard Top (White in Color) The top is included and is in good solid condition. It hasnt been on the vehicle since I bought it because it doesnt get driven in bad weather and is garage kept. Paint still shines up great and for the most part still looks great for being 32 years old, but it is original and there are knicks and scratches but nothing major other than these areas shown in the pics: The driver front corner has some very minor damage, the body in this area is not dented but has lost some paint, the grill and trim is slightly damaged. The hood has what appears to be some hail damage, I tried to show in the pics but I'm not sure if shows very well. The last issue with the body is it is starting show some minor rust on the bottom. For the most part its just the begining of some surface rust, the only place its all the way through is the back right corner which is clearly shown in the picture. The good news is if your looking to restore this, all of those are easy repairs. Im pretty sure the hail damaged could be popped out by paintless dent repair. The rust would be an easy fix since its still minor and just surface rust. The body sections on the bottom back corner where the rust is all the way through are available for replacement for very resonable prices. Or a good body man could probably fill it. If you're just looking to cruise in it or off road it, none of these issues take away from the overall appearance of the vehicle as its going down the road. Interior The Interior, like the rest of the vehicle is in very good shape for its age. The dash is nearly flawless. It has no cracks or damage. The passenger and rear seats are in great shape, no tears what so ever. The drivers seat does show wear and we currently have a seat cover on it. The door panels are in good shape other than the arm rests, they have gotten cracked over the years and the previous owner put duct tape on them to try and help, you can see this in the pics. The carpet has been removed do to wear and the floor boards are still in very good shape structurally. They are starting show some very minor surface rust in the front but could be prepped and easily covered with Rhino or Hercu-Liner. There are also replacement carpet kits available for about $250. There is a center console that came standard to go between the bucket seats. I do have it and it will be included but it has also cracked and weathered over the years which is why I removed it. There is an aftermarket Pioneer CD player installed that works great. This is an SE model which means it came with optional Air Conditioning and Cruise Control. The A/C needs charged and I believe the cruise has a vacuum leak so neither is fully functioning at the time. The only other issue worth mentioning is the for some reason the driver window will not roll up but since I never put the top on or drive in bad weather I havent looked into it. VALUE AVERAGE RETAIL $4390.00 HIGH RETAIL $6325 With this Ramcharger being in this original condition it would fall somewhere above average and below high retail. You can verify these numbers and read more about the NADA condition descriptions by clicking on or copying and pasting the link below: http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5013-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5014&y=1978&m=1052&d=440&c=7&o=1373~1376&vi=90582&da=1 Average Retail Value This vehicle would be in good condition overall. It could be an older restoration or a well-maintained original vehicle. Completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. A "20-footer". High Retail Value This vehicle would be in excellent condition overall. It could be a completely restored or an extremely well maintained original vehicle showing very minimal wear. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are not in need of reconditioning. The interior would be in excellent condition. That pretty much covers everything worth mentioning. If you have any question feel free to email me via Ebay. There is a reserve on this auction but it is actually below the average value of this vehicle. You wont find a comparable Jeep of this age and condition for this price and I truely believe its a fairly RARE find in this original condition. It is located in in Olney, IL 62450 and you're more than welcome to come look at it and/or drive it before bidding. I did my best to accurately describe and tell you everything I feel you would want to know so there are no surprises. It will be SOLD AS-IS and your welcome to set up shipping or transport but that will be the winners responsibility. $500 deposit due with in 48hours which can be made via PayPal.
