Vehicle Detail
This is a very rare car; To my knowledge it is the only Auburn 652 made into a fenderless street rod; I have researched the roots of this car and according to the archivest at the Auburn Cord Dusenburg Museum, this car was one of the last 20 cars built before the company closed its doors in 1936; They were hand made cars and only a handful were made each day; The car appears very long because it, They were built in two configurations, 6; 8 cylinder models; This is an 6 cylinder model; The straight 8 model had a longer frame and a foot longer hood but the rear portion of the cars was the same; The firewall protrudes to give lots of leg room which makes this car a dream to drive; It has front opening (suicide) doors; The body is all original steel except for the top which is an after market ribbed sheet metal top; The doors are fiberglass of very high quality. The car has electric windows and Dakota Digital door locks with remotes; The body is absolutely rust free; I went to great lengths to upgrade an older build during the complete rebuild two years ago; Many authentic Auburn parts were used including a hood ornament from a shop that supplies cars that compete at Pebble Beach; The paint is Chrome yellow from a Ford color chart; The pin striping was done by Eric of Kansas City, Missouri. During my restoration of this classic street rod, which was originally built near Lincoln, Nebraska, I replaced all the glass with a high quality dark tinted glass. The car starts instantly and runs like a dream; I have;driven it less than 500 miles since it was finished; The Auburn, which we call the Bob Tail Speedster, is always a large hit at car shows and there are more questions about its heritage to answer; It is a hoot to show. Custom built street rod boxed frame which is powder coated; 4 link rear suspension with panhard bar and 9" Ford rear end, 4 wheel manual disc brakes with under the floor master cylinder; Mustang II style front suspension with stainless upper & lower control arms and coil over suspension;manual rack ; pinion steering; 454 GM crate engine with Holley throttle body fuel injection; lots of engine bling; ceramic headers; 700 R4 automatic transmission with lock up converter; B&M ratchet shifter, tilt wheel; aluminum radiator with both manual fan and electric fans runs cool;cold Vintage Air& heat; ;wheels are from the American Racing custom shop, fronts are 16x8" and the rear are 20x10"; Hankook 215-50-16 front & 285-50-20 directional tires; new gas tank & sending unit;Classic Instrument vintage look gauges and clock; hand made&;engine turned dash; Interior is the creation of a master upholster done in a two tone ultra suede with embroidered accents,&; my wife wouldn't let me put flames on the outside so we put them in the interior; there are two sets of custom made floor mats one set plain and the other with the embroidered car logo on them for show; This is very drivable car and a fine addition to someone's collection.
