Up for auction today is my 1995 Mercedes Benz S500. I bought this car a little over a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed my limited use of the car. I am one of the pickiest people you will ever meet and I would score this car at 90 out of 100 cosmetically. This car was manufactured by Mercedes Benz AG in Stuttgart, Germany in June of 1995 for US export. As you may already know, this body carries the W140 designation and is the same S Class (or 400 class) body used from 1991 to 1998. This is truely the biggest and baddest of the Mercedes Benz cars during that era, the only more expensive car was the S600 which used the same body but had the V12 whereas the S500 has a 330 HP 5.0 liter V8. Some of these cars were plagued with bad transmissions and as such this transmission was completely rebuilt by the Mercedes Benz dealer at 107k miles. The front end suspension and steering was all replaced due to normal wear and tear shortly before I purchased the car. The brakes were all replaced shortly before I bought this car also. This car has the double pane side windows just as you have in your home for superior sound and heat insulation providing an almost silent ride with no road noise. Both front seats are power and move in more directions imaginable and both have the abiltiy to store settings for 3 different drivers/passengers. The rear seats and headrests also power recline and lift. This car is equipped with a sunroof that is still fully functional and does not leak!!!!!!! There are a few lights out on the automatic a/c controls but other than that everything and every light on the dashboard works. The car is also equipped with a factory installed Mercedes Benz CD changer that is mounted in the trunk. The spare tire and wheel is mounted in the trunk and includes the Mercedes Benz tool kit. The rear package tray also includes the Mercedes Benz first aid kit which is still in place and unopened after 15 years. The owner's manual is included and is in place in the glove box along with the original window sticker with a retail price of $90,190.00. This car is absolutely beautiful and you will not believe the condition it is in until you lay your eyes on it. Now enough of the good, time to explain the bad and the reason for selling it. Cosmetic issues include a small 2" crack right on the tip of the front bumper that is very minor, but i'm picky and I know its there. The power antenna mast is broken, the motor works but the mast needs to be replaced. There are several scuffs along the bottom of the rear bumper, not from collision but from items and objects in the garage rubbing against it. There is a small penny size ding in the middle of the passenger side rear door as well as a scrape on the lower right side of the front bumper and also on the rear edge of the right front wheel well. Under the passenger side headlight and headlight wiper is another small ding with minor rust. I bought this car to use as an extra vehicle when I have my children on the weekends but soon found out that I could not afford this car. A few months after buying and driving the car it began to have a slight misfire, or skip. I took the car to a local mechanic who promptly told me that he couldn't work on a Mercedes and told me to take it somewhere else which I did. After taking it to the only shop that specializes in imports in my area, I quickly found out that they were more interested in parts swapping and charging me every time they walked past my car and looked at it. After three months and one thousand dollars I had some choice conversation with the management and left with my car. I have no qualified shop in my area nor the funds to diagnose or repair this car!!!! This is very important: This car will run and drive like brand new on some days and on others it may shut off after driving for five or ten minutes. When it shuts off, sometimes it will crank again immediately and run fine, other times it may have to sit for an hour and will then run fine again. If you have the winning bid on this car I suggest that you pick it up on a trailer or a car dolly and take it to a qualified Mercedes Benz technician to have it repaired. I parked this car six months ago and have not touched it since...... time to let it go no matter how much money I lose. I paid top dollar for this car at a car dealership and just simply cannot afford to pay any more money, my loss is your gain as this is a no reserve auction!!!! I will consider delivering/meeting the winning bidder within about 200 miles or so for a nominal fee if we discuss and agree upon the price and the car is paid for prior to my delivery. I will assist in shipping this car anywhere in the world after waiting for LEGAL MONEY TO CLEAR FOR 30 DAYS! I have the title to this car in my hand, it is not at a bank and is not a salvage title, CLEAR GEORGIA TITLE with no lienholder. This car is also for sale locally and is subject to removal from ebay at any point that it sells up to the end of this ten day auction.
