Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a 1976 Pontiac Trans Am with a matching numbers, rebuilt Pontiac 400 CID (6.6 L) V8 motor that has been bored out .040 over with a street legal Blue Racer performance cam, power steering, power windows, rebuilt TH 350 automatic transmission, rebuilt 3.08 limited slip (posi-traction) differential, new Edelbrock 4-barrel 600 cfm emissions compliant (including CA) carburetor, headers and high flow 3” exhaust with catalytic converter and glasspack muffler, and lots of new interior parts. I have owned this car for over 16 years. I bought it in Arizona and it has been garage kept for the entire time I’ve owned it. I moved to Spokane 2 years ago, pulled it on a trailer to Spokane, and it has remained garage kept here too. I have never driven it in the snow. This car is currently registered in Washington and has a clean, non-salvage title. The motor was rebuilt about 6000 miles ago with a new camshaft, high volume oil pump, rebuilt headers with nickel plated valve seats, new pistons, rings, bushings, lifters, etc. I upgraded the differential from the stock 2.41 gearing to 3.08 and had the speedometer correctly calibrated to the new gearing. A new balanced drive shaft was also installed. It’s the same engine block that was in the car when I bought it and I confirmed that it is numbers matching - Z6N515792. This car really moves and sounds like a monster! I've never had it dyno tested, but it definitely has some serious HP and will beat the pants off any factory 1976 TA. I get lots of comments from people when I drive it around. I’ve put a lot of new parts into the interior as you can see from the photos--new dash board, center console, headliner, carpet, bucket seats, kick panels, Custom Autosound stereo (with jack for mp3 or other audio input), in-dash speakers that are installed in the correct top-center factory location, and more. I replaced the front coil springs and rear leaf springs, and installed adjustable air shocks in the rear; the height of the rear can be adjusted by increasing/decreasing the PSI in the system. The inlet sits under the back of the car and is not visible unless you look underneath. It can be seen in the photo taken of the underside rear included in this ad. I am selling this car because I bought a 78 SE last month that I’m going to completely restore instead. I don't have the garage space for both, which is important since it snows in the winter here. This car came with A/C, but I pulled it out when I rebuilt the engine. Foolishly, I got rid of all the A/C parts at the time. I installed a new wire harness throughout and the gauges, lights, horn, etc. all work great. The only components that don't work are the clock located on the tachometer and the A/C controls, although the wire harness does have the necessary components to install an A/C system. The body has some minor dings and areas of paint that have been chipped (notice the paint chips on front and rear bumpers). There are no serious rust problems anywhere. The trunk bottom, floor pans, and quarter panels are all in great shape. I mounted the shaker unit to the hood to accommodate the Edlebrock carburetor. It's not welded and can be unscrewed from the hood supports if someone wants to switch back to the factory carb setup. I will include the original air intake unit, rear spoilers, and a complete set of TA decals to go with the car (see the photo I included of the decals). I have the original formula steering wheel and center cap that will go to the buyer. I will also include two firebird emblem covers that can go where the manual window actuator would reside with the power window option. I am being as upfront about this car as possible to make this a smooth transaction. I tried not to leave anything important out, but please email me if you have any questions. I will make arrangements if you would like to have the car inspected. Deposit of US $500.00 within 24 hours of auction close. Full payment required within 7 days of auction close.
