Vehicle Detail

Hello Z Fans. Being offered here is a 1980 Datsun 280 ZX 10th Anniversary, one of 3000 built. 2500 were Black and Gold and just 500 were Red and Black. This is # 918 of the series. These have a plaque in front of the gearshift designating the series number, special Red-and-Black paint scheme, leather seats, headlight washers, T-Tops and a few other things. This ZX was apparently repainted at some point, don't think the Red is original Red. I have all original color numbers (Dupont). Glass good condition, a few scratches on T-Top glass. Hood, doors, hatch close smartly, and no leaks noted on top or back hatch, even in downpours. Mileage appears to be correct. I got this ZX to totally restore, but worsening physical/medical situation does not allow me to continue working on cars. I have the vehicle registered but not inspected yet, and have not even checked out the cruise control or heat/AC. Incidently, the A/C system was converted to R134. There is some damage to the outer edge of each seat, but the leather seat sections are in very good condition. There is very little rust for a 30-year-old car. The only thing I know for sure needed for inspection (VA) is new front tires. Rear tires have most of original tread. All lights work, including dash, side marker, courtesy, head and tail. Both front and rear wipers work as intended. Items I have noticed as having been replaced at some point include radiator, plug wires, alternator, A/C compressor. I have replaced the air filter, rotor and cap, plugs, and most of the vacuum lines and fuel delivery lines. I have new replacement electrical plugs for the fuel injectors but have not been able to instal them. Something seemed wrong with the exhaust manifold so I replaced it with headers. I used the header extention connected to part of a new Nissan downpipe, which bolts to the catalytic convertor. The remainder of each section is included in case you might ever want to change back to stock exhaust. The round-port intake-exhaust manifold gasket installed is a genuine Nissan. This ZX has a N47 head. Engine starts faster than any car I've had for years. No exhaust smoke. Some roughness at idle, but have not done any tune-up or timing work other than described above. Included are both Haynes and FACTORY repair manuals. As I have replaced so many vacuum and other hoses and lines there may be one or more items not fully tight. Oil pressure, temp. and other guages all work. Also the Air pump and blower to cool the fuel rail area works fine. Some of the heat shields under the hood have not been reinstalled yet. As I do not have it inspected yet (and I won't be able to) I have only run it on local back streets. The 'shade' panels that fit under the upper glass are missing, but the black plastic threaded discs are with the car. Back carpeting needs replaced. No jack with car, but I found an unused Nissan spacesaver spare on EBAY that will be included. The stereo system face panel (aftermarket) was missing when I got the car, but I have a used Pioneer unit to go with the ZX. I have recently replaced the hatchback lifts with new ones. Just recently I noticed that the title has a 'rebuilt' notation. I have not been able to find out why. I can't reach the previous owner, and he had purchased the ZX from out-of-state. I do not know whether the designation is accurate or not. In all the work I have done on the car I have not seen anything to suggest any damage or issue to have had this label added. It could just be a mistake. Hard to tell anymore. I have had a 260Z and a 300ZX, just love these cars, hate to let this one go. Ant questions, please call me at (540) 371-6095. Sold as-is, with no waranty of any kind. Will have to be a pick-up: I cannot ship. Will need 500.00 Paypal deposit within 48 hrs. of auction end. My original cost was more than the current buy-it-now price. I just have to find a new home for it. Thanks for stopping by. Just thought of a couple of things. There are a few small dent at various places, and I got a pair of tan T-Top cover/sleeves to protect the tops when removed. It also has a 21 1/8 gal. fuel tank, giving a very long driving range. Ebay only allows one color choice for vehicle, ZX IS red and black. On Aug-07-10 at 17:36:42 PDT, seller added the following information: Anyone within driving distance is welcome to arrange to come see the ZX. Also, both left and right side-view remote mirrors and switches work fine.
