Vehicle Detail
This fabulous original 1923 Ford Model T Touring car has had only 2 owners! The current owner bought the car 67 years ago from the original owner and has impeccably maintained and treated it with TLC ever since. The owner is a mechanical engineer who owned a very large and successful machine shop for 50 years so he has the knowledge and facilities to keep this magnificent car in exceptional condition. It has been fully and professionally restored and has always been garaged. The car is black with red spoke wheels and the body is in superb (original) condition. The interior and top were restored as original and they are in beautiful condition. The floor mats are the original style Ford script mats. This Model T, unlike many, has a speedometer. Mechanically the car runs like a “top.” It has great compression and the car has been driven very few miles since the engine was rebuilt. The transmission looks like new inside and the bands are new. A recent oil change revealed there was absolutely no sediment in the used oil and it was perfectly clean. The spark plugs, plug wires, fan belt and hoses and battery are all new, and the coils were just gapped and adjusted. The carburetor is a Holley NH and it was just rebuilt. There is also a brass gas shut off at the carburetor, so you don't have to climb under the car to shut off the gas (as is the case with many Model T). The gas tank was cleaned and is great original condition. The front spindle bushings had minimal play but have been replaced with a newly bushed set and the wheel bearings were just greased. The front end and steering on the car are tight and there is no play. The radiator is one of the nicest original radiators to be found and has the accessory dog bone Boyce Motor meter. The wheels are the later style, demountable with a like new set of 30 x 3 ½ stemmed tubes. This Ford Model T is also equipped with: * original kerosene side and tail lights * leather crank holder * working headlights * Comes with some original Model T tools, jack and an accessory running board luggage rack This is a truly magnificent Model T that is original and in exceptional condition in every respect. If you like classic Model T’s and want one that has been professionally maintained by a mechanical engineer for nearly seven decades, you will love this very special vehicle. The car is located in St. Paul, MN. This is truly a historic car. Manufactured between 1908 and 1927, the Model T (a.k.a. the “tin Lizzie”) was the first mass produced (and affordable) car ever built. The Model T has been named in an international poll as “the most influential car of the twentieth century.” See: http://en.wikipedia.org Minimum bid is $10,000. Full payment is due within 7 days of auctions end by bank wire transfer with 10 days to clear or cash. This is an “as is, where is” sale without express or implied warranties of any kind. Prospective buyers are invited to inspect this vehicle, and/or have a professional mechanic do so, provided arrangements are made in advance. The buyer will be responsible for picking up the car, or arranging and paying for any shipment. Unless otherwise agreed, the vehicle must be picked-up within 14 days after funds are received and cleared. If not, $20/day shall be charged for storage, which will be permitted for a maximum of 30 days. You are bidding to purchase the vehicle, not inspect the vehicle after the auction is over. If you are new to e-bay, have a zero rating or excessive negatives, please e-mail me before bidding or your bid will be removed. Please e-mail or call David at (651) 455-6586 with any questions.
