Vehicle Detail

1967 BMW 2000 New Class ( Neue Klass ) This rare BMW was a restoration project from 1986 to 1989 and then abandoned before completion. The car was last licensed and registered in 1985. The car has maybe 15 miles on the engine and suspension rebuild. The auction starting price is less than the core charge price for a junk engine. The car was recently started and driven and needs a new owner to finish the project. Recent work done New water pump Flush cooling system, new coolant Clean and adjust carburetor Engine oil and filter changed Work done 1986 - 1989 Engine Bore and hone cylinders + 0.020 in. Grind crankshaft - 0.025 Recondition connecting rods + 0.025 New pistons, rings and wristpins New rod bearings New main bearings New timing chain and tension rail New cam and crank timing gears New oil pump and gear New gaskets, hoses, belts, pulley, motor mounts This engine is not even broken in yet. The short block was completely rebuilt The cylinder head was not rebuilt but seems OK New exhaust system Transmission New seals, gaskets, filter and mounts Suspension New front struts New strut bearings New ball joints New tie rod and ends New inner and outer control arm bushings New KYB rear shocks in trunk, not yet installed Needs the following to be a daily driver Complete brake job (pedal goes to the floor) Fuel tank and lines cleaned and sealed or replaced Guibo rubber(universal) joints are noisy and need replaced Tires have good tread and hold air but they are old Thermostat probably needs replaced General The body shell is very solid. There is no structural rust in the floors, trunk, rockers, shock towers, wheel arches, fenders or suspension mounts. There is rust thru in the outer door skins (not in structure), trunk lid and front apron. The car spent the first half of it's life in New Mexico, it has been in Florida since 1985, consequently the sun has taken it's toll on the body paint and rubber. The engine starts easily and runs smoothly with a temporary gas tank. The transmission shifts through all gears correctly. The interior is in fair to good condition, the sun cracked dash pad being the worst part. The front seats fully recline into a bed like the old Ramblers, Very cool. There is a dealer installed A/C unit (Coolaire) that is in boxes in the trunk. I have a valid certificate of title (Ohio 4/30/84) and many receipts. Make no mistake, this is a project car, but it is very solid and nearly complete. The car will be sold as is where is. Shipping is up to you. Lastly I have been as honest as I know how to be about the condition, history and description of this car. I have owned it since 1984, I just don't have the time, money or inclination to finish it. To protect and satisfy yourself, please inspect it or have it inspected by someone you trust BEFORE bidding. Remember your bid is legal and binding. Please do your due diligence. Thank You.
