This 83 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo is an excellent vehicle. I purchased it in July of 2009. I originally purchased it to convert it to a vegetable oil fueled car. I never got around to converting it even after I purchased the kit. I got this car because I began working out of town and the Mercedes diesel engine is known to go over 500000 miles. It got 25 miles to the gallon and ran with no problems up till a month ago. First gear in the transmission began to slip. Once out of first gear, it runs as if there wasn't anything wrong. It could be as simple as a vacuum or as complex as needing a rebuild. I don't have the time or money to invest in it. Everything else works great. When i purchased it, I had some tie rod ends changed, tires replace, battery replaced, both head lights, and one tail light, and exhaust hangers replaced. The interior automatic locks don;'t work. They are vacuum driven as well. When turning on the A/C, which is cold, the air comes out of the defroster. Again, a vacuum issue. It still cooled the car, therefore, I never had it fixed. I am the second owner of this vehicle and the original owner gave me all of the oil change records since day one along with the original bill of sale. It has been well taken care of. The paint is a little faded and doesnt appear to be the original color except for the roof. There is a small amount of surface rust on the right fender where i scraped it backing into the garage. The windshield has a circular crack in it on the passenger side. The sunroof does not leak either. This vehicle is being relisted due to non-payment.
