Vehicle Detail
In 1956, Cadillac built 26,649 (out of 154,577 total production) Series 62 two door hardtops. New in this model year was the 365 cid V8 rated at 285 hp, hydromatic transmission, a “Park” selection on the shifter, and the autronic eye that automatically dims the headlights. These cars were designed by Harley Earl, famous at GM for “forward design”, and it shows in the styling, including the “Dagmars”, rear fins and exhaust ports through the rear bumper. This car is largely unrestored, bearing 52,132 miles, and having been repainted with single stage paint at some point in its past. The car retains its original engine and drivetrain. With the exception of carpet and seat belts, the interior is original, with options including the autronic eye, clock, electronic seek radio, and an unusual build spec of manual windows. The car has power steering and power brakes. Mechanically the car is in very good condition and smooth driving. The body is solid, with the only evident rust being a couple of "bubbles" on the lower rear driver's door (note photo). The glass and exterior trim are in very good condition, and the bumper chrome is decent but not perfect. The car was sourced from southern California, where it was represented to have been originally sold. I am selling due to purchasing a 1950 Cadillac and at 19 feet long, two of these cars take up entirely too much space. Please contact me with any questions and thanks for bidding -
