Vehicle Detail

Three years & six months ago I purchased this Inca Gold Ford Thunderbird from a man in California who had owned it for 30 years and said it was a West Coast car. Some of this information is based on a telephone conversation with him but most revolves around what I have done to the car. The car had 68,586 miles when it arrived in a closed trailer in Cincinnati in February 2007. He said the engine was new 35,000 miles before that and the automatic transmission was rebuilt about that time. The power steering cylinder was replaced then also and bumpers re-chromed just before I purchased the car. I have driven it 1644 miles [probably will drive a few more miles during the listing time] as it was getting restoration work done. All trips were short - Church, restaurants, etc., one of 45 miles. I had a '94 Ford Splash, '51 MG and a '29 Model A as well as my "driver car", a '95 Miata, so there has been competition for driving miles. I have sold those cars and for over a year have been involved in restoration work on a '61 Nash Metropolitan which has become my car show car. Restoration work described below was done by Lou Schafer & Sons. Please look at www.Louschafer.com or www.lscustomshop.com to see the quality of work his shop has done for over 50 years. The Metropolitan has won 9 trophies in 12 shows, I am nearing 81 and am selling the Thunderbird to focus on the fun with the Metro. Restoration work done on the Inca Gold Thunderbird includes complete painting, floor panels inspected and passenger side rusted floor panel replaced, new seat covers and carpet including trunk carpet, new passenger door window motor, hood hinges, points/plugs. radiator leak repaired, replaced all three motor mounts, new master brake cylinder, new wiper motor, installed rebuilt clock and new carburator. The only painting done by Schafer's shop was the outside of the hood which had received some chips, The car has five new Damond Back Radial tires with less than 1,000 miles on them. All gauges, power steering, power brakes, power-lift windows. turn signals, door locks and radio with cassette player work. There is a soft top which I have never put up . I will supply buyer with time worksheets showing all the work done and the charges that were made but not incuding donuts I took to the shop! The car has been garaged and never taken out in the winter. I think rain hit the car once since I had it, snow never. Of course, the investment in the car is far more than my reserve price because classic car owners preserve, maintain and restore their cars. Included with the car is a 440 Lb electric hoist for the top [picture] purchased new [$399.95] through an ad in Early Bird magazine. I will include all my copies of that magazine plus a 1957 shop manual and related items plus a Thunderbird padded fender cover seen in one of the pictures. Thank you.
