Vehicle Detail
1983 Porsche 911 SC Targa. 107,117 miles. I am selling my Porsche because we are undertaking a major remodel of our home and will be moving out for 9 months to a year. Everything will be gone from the house and it will be hard enough to manage two other vehicles and all our possessions. I don't want to throw in storage for the Porsche so it is time for it to go. Maybe it is time for you to own this vehicle. The Reserve is low and I expect the car to sell. If you win the vehicle you will be getting a very good deal. I believe the exterior color is called Slate Blue Metallic. The interior is dark blue. One of the prettiest color combinations for any Porsche. I have owned this vehicle for just short of 7 years and have put about 10,000 miles on the car. The previous owner purchased the car in November of 1992 with about 92,000 miles on the odometer. He lived in Medina (where Bill Gates lives) and this was his third or fourth car; he also had a 993 cabriolet which I think he drove most of the time to get his "Porsche Fix". Anyway, the vehicle is in good shape. The body is very straight. There is a small dent on the lower left front scoop right next to the left fog light. You don't notice it because it is down under the bumper. Other than that, there are no dents or even dings that I can see. However, there is evidence of paint work (a little overspray on the driver's door handle gasket) and I do not know to what extent there has been bodywork or paint work. I do know that the previous owner left a bra on the front of the car when it was wet and it caused some blistering. It does not show up in the photo but it is there on the front bonnet. The paint is acceptable but not perfect by any means and there are nicks in all the usual places. The interior has two issues. The dash has a repaired crack. The repair job is so so but better than a crack. The front leather seats have cracks in the seat backs. The drivers seat had cracks in the seat cushion which I had recovered over new seat foam which I purchased from Porsche for about $200. Since then there is a small cut (2") in the seat. I won't tell you how that happened but it involved me sitting in the seat with a pair of scissors in my back pocket. Other than the dash and the front seats the interior is in good shape. The rear leatterette seats are in excellent shape as are the door panels and rear panels. The carpet is good and the pocket are a little bowed with some wear on the passenger pocket. Overall, the interior is very decent. The engine runs very well. No problems that I know of. The previous owner had the gearbox rebuilt ($3,184.00) shortly after he purchased the vehicle so there is only about 15,000 miles on the rebuild. The only major thing I have had done was to replace all four shocks with appropriate bilstein shocks. I think I spent about $900 or 1000 for the installed shocks. The A/C has been recharged and blows very cold and the system tested fine. There is a very nice Nakamichi CD player with an ipod cord in the glovebox. Looks and sounds great. The targa top is in good shape. The previous owner told me the the car has a factory locking differential but I have not had it verified. The car has headlight washers but I just noticed that they are not working. Probably needs a new pump which is $100 or so. Also, the car has a factory security system but no key. All wheels (Fuchs in excellent condition - no curb rash) have locking lug nuts. Yokohama S306 tires were new at 95,000 miles, Also, I have been told the car was updated with chain tensioners and it definately has a pop off valve. Headlights have been updated to halogen, I believe H5s. Also, there is a Porsche car cover with lock and an after market cockpit cover that attaches with velcro. Please ask any questions. I will do my best to answer them. You are welcome to inspect the car or have someone inspect the car. I will try to accommodate your schedule but please understand that I have a full work and home schedule. Also, I can not guarantee the mileage since I have not owned the car since new but I have no reason to believe that the mileage is not true; and the mileage may increase a little if I decide to take it out for a spin or two before the final sale. The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to stop the auction if it should sell before the end of the auction. The buyer agrees to pay a $500.00 non refundable deposit within two (2) days of the end of the auction and the remaining winning balance within seven (7) days of the end of the auction. The vehicle will not be released until full payment is in hand and all funds have cleared. Please do not bid if you can not afford this vehicle or have no intention of buying this vehicle, it is not fair to the other bidders and I will certainly alert Ebay. Good luck and good bidding. Someone is going to get a good deal.On Jul-18-10 at 00:39:12 PDT, seller added the following information: To answer any questions about labels and interior condition, I have added five pictures. The dash picture shows the repaired crack above the center vent. The seat picture shows the condition of the two front leather seats. The cut in the drivers seat cushion is only 1", not 2" and is not visible in the picture. The back of the driver's seat has some split piping and normal wear. The picture also shows the wear splits in the center panel of the passenger seat. The rest of the seat has no splits. The wheel picture is representative of all four Fuchs and tires. I might also add that he spare is original and the tool kit complete. I have also pictured the Manufacture Label from the inside of the driver's door and the labels in the engine compartment. Please note that there has been no paint work in either location. I tried to get a picture of the body number but could not get a clear picture through the windshield. I also could not get a clear picture of the engine number but I do not have any reason to believe that this is not a matching number car. I hope these pictures answer any questions you may have.
