Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Diesel Wagon. This car is in excellent condition with original paint and no body damage other than a few small dents and no rust other than a few tiny spots under the hood. I just replaced all 4 tires and they have less than 15 miles on them. Also recently replaced was the brake booster, power window regulator (drivers door), door seal (front passenger), fuel filters & oil and oil filter, new battery and a pioneer mp3/i-pod cd player and two front pioneer speakers. I spent over $600 and had a brand new OEM exhaust system installed and had the car professionally buffed and waxed. I have kept the car in my garage and under a cover. Everything seems to be working fine mechanically, the engine starts right up and runs like a fine swiss watch. I haven't determined the exact MPG but it is extremely efficient. All of the original manuals and reference guides are also included as pictured. These cars are notorious and sought after for being unstoppable, very reliable, and long running, easily attaining 250,000 miles or more. These models are equipped with a vacuum system that operates the door locks, however I disconnected it so that the door locks could be more easily opened and closed manually and individually instead of all at once, reconnecting it is easy and your choice. The car starts perfectly with the key in the ignition, however recently after turning the key to the off position the engine still runs - this is due to the fact that the vacuum system must have a hose that became disconnected, because this is only a weekend driver for me it doesn't bother me, I just pop the hood and press the manual engine shut off lever and it shuts right off, I think it gives it character, however this is certainly a common and very easy fix. The power antenna snapped off so I installed a telescoping non motorized one that works great. All 3 power windows work fine with the exception of the passenger door which seems to be blowing a fuse. The back of the front seats have webbed magazine type holders which are tight and are not sagging at all. Both front driving lights work perfectly as do the yellow fog lights, all corner lights and interior lights also work as do the rear backup lights located under the fender. The car has a great sunroof that is manually operated and works like new. I can't really think of what else to say, the car is beautiful runs perfectly and gets tons of compliments, a very classy vehicle. Also interesting is the enormous availability of new parts which I thought were very very affordable, also is the vast amounts of information available online through several different - Mercedez-Benz owners and enthusiast forums. Please enjoy the photos and feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. On Jul-14-10 at 11:41:32 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that the car has the origal chrome roof rack as you can see in the photos. The rack is in 100% perfect condition and is real chrome. I began polishing it and it has a perfect mirror finish. Most models do not have the full rack. I added another picture with the palmtrees behind it to give a better view of the color, the other photos seem to give the car a very slight greenish tinge and the car is actaully a nicer looking yellow/cream. I also realized that the speedometer is not working but all of the other guages are working, such as the fuel, oil pressure and clock.
