1985 Chevy Suburban – Rust Free Texas Vehicle ! Absolutely beautiful! If you are in need of a spectacularly clean, big strong, comfortable and reliable tow vehicle, and really don’t wish to spend $30,000 or $40,000 or more to get one, please take the time to read this ad. First of all, I don’t personally own this beauty, but I am trying to help my friend/next door neighbor sell it, since he has no experience with eBay, and I’ve got a bit. Because I treasure my 100% positive eBay rating, I will do everything in my power to accurately describe this vehicle. The owner is a retired fellow who spends as much time as he can at his place in Texas and then comes back to his other home in Ohio when the weather becomes tolerable up here. As near as we can tell from the included CARFAX report, this truck has spent nearly its entire life in west Texas, which is where he bought it. Most importantly, this vehicle has no rust anywhere. I have been underneath it when it was on a lift, and you can tell that it has never seen an Ohio winter. The door hems are perfect, and there are none of those pesky bubbles starting at the lower corners of the glass which is so typical of these trucks. It was repainted somewhere around 1996, and whoever did it was extremely good. If you have a vehicle with perfect paint that was repainted several months ago, you wonder what has been hidden underneath. But, if it is still nearly perfect 14 years later, you are certain that it is solid, rust free and Bondo-free. It is as glossy and straight as a new truck, and any tiny chips or scratches that have occurred since have been carefully tended to. It is unbelievably clean inside, outside, underneath and under the hood. As near as we can tell, there have been five owners, the previous two being two gentlemen who owned and worked at the engine rebuilder’s shop. The mechanical work was done with as much care as the cosmetic work. We listed the mileage as 155,000 which we believe to be correct, since the CARFAX report doesn’t tell anything after 1989. Regardless, in a 25 year old vehicle, condition is everything, and everything about this Suburban is as good as you will ever find. This is better than a two year lease turn-in. Spectacular Dupont basecoat/clearcoat red paint with silver accents. Matching red cloth (plush) interior, bucket seats, 3rd row seating. The photos don’t begin to tell how nice the interior is. Deep tint (Texas) glass, power windows, power locks. Electric tailgate window w/defroster. Front and rear dual air and heater. Everything works. Tilt steering wheel. Transplanted 454 engine, stamping #T0614TRU, which suggests a 1979 series block. The engine was totally rebuilt by a professional machine shop/engine rebuilder just before it was sold to the current owner, which means that the engine has about 20,000 miles since it was rebuilt. The rebuild included: Bored .030” over, new pistons, rings, bearings, etc. New cam spec’d for low end and midrange (towing). All new and high quality external parts. Dual Electric Cooling Fans (pusher-type) to improve a/c efficiency. Submersible in-tank Delphi fuel pump w/pressure regulator and filtered return. Quadrajet carburetor. 50,000 volt HEI ignition system. Headers and full dual exhaust. New 98 amp alternator. 700 R4 Automatic Transmission. 4 Speed w/overdrive. A total transmission overhaul in 2008. Shift kit. Transmission oil cooler. 3.42 Rear Axle Trailer brake controller w/7-pin plug. Reese Hitch. 40 gallon fuel tank. Aluminum rally wheels. Firestone Destination LE Tires. 31x10.50R15LT, Load Range C, 10/32” of tread remaining on all four, rated tire capacity 2270 # each. Delphi XM radio. Sun Pro II Tachometer. Uniden CB. A complete front $953 suspension rebuild (receipt attached) less than 5000 miles ago, (2008). Inspected and replaced all front wheel bearings and seals in June of 2010. The 2010 Texas vehicle inspection has just been completed. A $500 non-refundable security deposit is required via PayPal with three days of the end of the auction. The balance, either in cash or cashier’s check must be paid with 7 days of the close of the auction. Once the entire balance is paid, the current owner can store the vehicle indoors for up to 30 days at no charge. Also, the current owner might be able to assist you with delivery or shipping arrangements (at the purchaser’s expense).
