Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1987 Mercedes Benz 300D turbo diesel sedan. These cars are known for durability and long lasting performance, most going more than 500,000 miles before needing major repair. This car gets excellent fuel mileage, averaging 27mpg in the city and about 30mpg on the highway, which is pretty good for a 23 year old sedan. I still have the original window sticker that lists all the options this came with factory along with the $42,000 price on it when it was new way back in 1987. Today that would be much higher if it were new. This car has the 6 cylinder Turbo Diesel engine not a 4 or 5 cylinder like all of the ones before it. This engine was only available in 1987 making this a very rare model- and is know for its very good handeling and high crusing speeds. It is a safe car and even has a driver side air bag, and still has the factory emergency medical kit behind the back seat. The seats are leather. But it is a 23 year old vehicle and it is time for me to part ways with it. I have looked this car up on the NADA website and they show it Retails between $3,775.00 and $7,500.00. This car is older and does have some minor problems so I will be setting the reserve lower than low retail- much lower in fact. Full disclosure about this vehicle. It starts good and runs good, It has been my daily driver for the last 2 years, and has taken me on several road trips, safely and reliably, but it has a few problems that are listed here. 1)-the left rear passenger window switch is broken so that window does not roll up or down- the switch needs to be replaced, 2) the sunroof has been getting very slow to open and close and I have decided to quit opening it because it was taking so long for it to close, 3) the antenna for the radio is broke off but still picks up some FM stations okay, but not AM, 4) The automatic transmission dose not like to downshift to a lower gear when you slow down to make a turn or something- and it works just fine if you manually pull the gear shift selector down from drive into 3 when you are slowing down for a sharp turn and then put it back in drive., 5) The clips that hold both sunvisors in the roof are broke and so the lights built into the sunvisors do not work, 6) there is a small dent on the rear passenger side by the fuel filler door, and also a rust spot (hole) in the very lower passenger side toward the front door- possibly from being up north in road salt/ snow at one time, and the paint on the hood is faded in spots.., 7) the odometer doesn't work, it just quit recently, 8) the hood latch is broke or missing so I have a wire tie on the latch to open it., 9) the 2 front tires are worn ( I took them off of the back about 3 months ago) and 10) the A/C has to have freon put in it about once a month to 6 weeks or so, and the 2 center dash vents aren't letting the air blow out., 11) the driver side seat still moves back and forth and tilts back and forth but it in crooked as if a very large person once drove the car a lot, and there are a couple of spots of the interior that need to be fixed. Aside from all that it is a mechanically sound car that has carried me back and forth to work everyday for almost 2 years. If you are mechanically inclined you may be able to fix these minor issues and have a good car for a long time. The reserve will be less than half of what the low retail on this car is, and I have disclosed fully everything I can think of that might be an issue, so check out my 100% Positive Feedback and bid with confidence. Good Luck and Happy Bidding. I will ONLY accept PayPal for the $500.00 Deposit, for the rest of the payment you are to 1)Either send me a certified Cashier's check from your bank or a postal money order for the balance- at least a week before you can pick this up or 2) Green American Cash Money for the remaining balance...... However if you Absolutely think you need to pay for the entire transaction via PayPal then you need to add 5% to the total price when you pay out- to make up for some of the losses I would incur for accepting PayPal....
