Vehicle Detail

For sale is my 1999 Wrangler Sport 4.0L 5 Speed. Has 100k on the motor ODO says 120K the motor was replaced no problems very reliable. Great off road and great onroad. I built this up over the past couple years I wanted something that was the best of both worlds. That is exactly what this is. See below for specs and the writeup of what i have spent. I know i will never get back what i put in. Someone will be getting a VERY capable jeep for a fraction of the price it would take to build it. Wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere.Reserve is much less than buy it now. When something started to look old I just replaced it with an upgrade. The total of all the upgrades i have done NOT INCLUDING TAX SHIPPING AND MOST INSTALLS= $15,068 Plus the cost of what the jeep is worth =$6,000-$6,500 say $6,300+$15,056=$21,356 NOT ASKING ANYWHERE NEAR WHAT I HAVE PUT INTO IT I have sold may vehicles and mostly all of them have been modified. I know you never get what you put into it. The only thing i would change in the near future would be tires. They will need replacing in the near future. I reserve the right to end the auction early. The one picture with the top up is an older shot with the older wheels and tires, they are not included. also the winch is not included i am borrowing it from a friend unless buy it now is met. More pictures here: http://www.witspark.com/houndweb/hound_sale.html On Jun-30-10 at 18:12:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked me the below questions and i thought they were good questions so i figured i would share them with all of you. 1. Terraflex control arms that are not installed...are they included in the sale? What do they add to the suspension? How difficult are they to install/adjust/set up? I bought them because i was going to install 4" springs on the jeep to give it more lift but decided i didn't need to. The 3" lift is perfect keeps the low center of gravity so the jeep is not top heavy or tippy very stable on and offroad. The terraflex arms are needed if you go with a larger lift and enable you to get your drive line angles properly adjusted so you don't get any vibrations. They are good from 4"-6" of lift and just need bushings if you were to use them. They can be ordered from terraflex. As for the install it isnt that difficult but setting up the drive line angles might be a little more confusing if you haven't done it but again they are not needed unless you get a bigger lift. 2. What is 8.8 out of - late model explorer? What kind of traction aid is "posi-loc" - ford trac-loc (clutch-based lsd)? How is it working? I have one on my bronco and I never thought it did much (not trying to knock it for this application, mine has been in need of rebuild for a long time now). Are the disc brakes stock from the ford it came from or was it converted using the GM calipers? Is the parking brake functional? The 8.8 is out of a 1996 ford explorer the brakes calipers and rotors are all for the same year explorer. I spent too much money having the 8.8 built and didn't have any money left over for the locker so the guy that built the rear threw in the posi for free. It works similar to a locker but doesn't fully lock the tires so it is MUCH better for road driving. When the one wheel looses traction it distributes power to the other wheel so both rear wheels will turn when you are in a tough spot. Again doesn't lock them together like a locker so you dont have to worry about anything breaking if you get on the gas pedal as much as if you were to have a locker back there. As for it being Clutch based or LSd not to sure i had a professional install it. Rich Brandi from Brandi's 4X4 in bridgeport. Basically the posi is better for onroad manners with some pluses offroad. Obvioiusly a locker is better offroad but you encounter some problems when driving with a locker on pavement unless it is selectable like an arb or an electric locker. Yes the emergency brake is functional. Could use some new rear brake pads which i will change before any sort of sale. 3. Is there an axle upgrade kit installed super 30, super 88, etc? c-clip eliminator? The only axle upgrades are yukon gears 4.10 in the front and rear as well as some Superior Axle & Gear Front Axle Tube Seals. Running 33" tires up to 35" tires there is no need for any super kit unless you have a Dana 35 in the rear. For my application a Super 30 Kit and or a super 88 kit would be nice but an over kill. I have a friend that runs lockers front and rear in his YJ with 36" super swampers granted he blew out the rear because it was a Dana 35 but the Dana 30 has been holding up strong. i would never recommend running those size tires on a stock locked Dana 30 but he has had success. Just a reference point. 4. The NV3550 is a stock transmission from later model jeeps - correct? does it use any custom adapters/components or will any 'regular' mechanic recognize it and be able to work on it? The NV3550 was out of a 2001 TJ. I drove my friends jeep and liked the gearing of that transmission and read great reviews of its strength. So i figured i would put one in. The transmission bolts right up to the engine same mounting holes everywhere same everything nothing out of the ordinary exact replacement of the stock AX15 trans just beefier and geared better. A mechanic should have no problem working on it. Probably wont even notice it isn't the stock trans. 5. The Warrior corner protectors that are not installed, are they included? What is on the corners in the photos? Yes they are included and currently on the jeep now is Paint. it was sanded taped and painted with a satin black. just liked the look of the back half in black. i was going for the black and tan look. I got the cab corners to cover up the holes in the body that were left from the Orfab tire swing. Just never got around to installing them. I sold the tire swing because i needed money for home improvements (new roof on the house) but would buy one again in a heart beat it is an amazing tire swing, fits great and NEVER rattles. 6. Are all listed tops and covers included: Bestop Bikini/Safari top?, Bestop Deck Cover?, Bestop Soft top and hard doors? What top is currently mounted? Yes they are all included. the soft top is always on in most of the pictures i have the Bikini top on with the deck cover. the deck cover hides the top. which is nice in case you get stuck in the rain somewhere you can always put the soft top up. i also have a cover for the jeep that i will throw in so you can cover it up if you want to leave the top down over night and don't want dew or anything to get on it over night or if it rains over night it is a water proof cover. 7. I am only slightly familiar with the CJ tailgate mod. It basically changes the stock swing out tailgate to a "truck style" fold down tailgate - correct? Is this cosmetic only or can the tailgate be used for sitting, standing, loading, etc - within reason of course. Are there any issues with the CJ tailgate - locking, leaking, etc? Adding the Cj tailgate appears to have eliminated the spare tire holder. Is there a way to carry the spare tire with the rear seat installed or would a bumper with swing out tire carrier need to be purchased? Mostly cosmetic, yes you can use it as a table of sorts putting your lunch and some random stuff on it. you could probably sit on it but i wouldn't trust it although i weigh 225 lbs. the CJ tailgate does not have a lock on it, and does not leak either. A swing out tire carrier would need to be purchased if you would like to keep the CJ style tailgate on there. if you don't like the look or the functionality you can always put the stock tailgate back on which i have and will include, which also has a lock. but a jeep with a canvas top there pretty much is no reason to lock the doors anyway because all someone has to do is unzip the window. that is why i have the locking center consoled and the locking glove box to put the important stuff in and lock up. 8. In general how is the the overall condition mechanically? When does the current inspection run through? You mentioned that it will need new tires - how many more miles do you estimate they have left based on how they've worn so far? How are the fluids, plugs, wheel bearings, etc - have they been recently changed? How long before they need maintenance? Is there any oil/fluid leaks? Any mystery noises, clunks, or squeaks? Mechanically it is great. Oils in everything were changed more often than they should. I recently changed the front and rear differentials i use Mobile 1 synthetic. the transmission got Royal purple synthetic, and the transfer case also got synthetic. forgot the brand i believe ATF+? they were all changed with in the last 2 months . the rear was changed two weeks ago. The rear drive shaft was making a clunking noise because the ball in the CV joint was going bad. So i got rid of that and just installed an brand new tom woods drive shaft. that cost 350. I installed that two weeks ago when i did the fluid change. As for the tires you could use them the rest of the summer and fall but i would get a new set before the winter. They have worn ok but the tread pattern on the tires makes them Noisy at highway speeds. To be honest driving down the turnpike with the top down and the doors off they are pretty loud. Doesn't really bother me because i like loud things. it is all up to interpretation. Plugs are all brand new, wheel bearing are good changed one about a year ago but was told you very rarely ever have to change them because it is a sealed unit. No fluid or oil leaks. there is one odd clunk that my mechanic friends and i have never been able to figure out. it only happens when you are driving in reverse and you turn the wheel almost to full lock in either direction there is a clunk once then that is it.. sound like something in the steering might have been bad like a ball joing so i replaced every balljoint and changed all the grease boots to poly boots, and replaced the pitman arm.. The clunk still happens. has happened ever since the jeep was bought buy my like 4-5 years ago. It never lead to anything breaking or getting worn out so i just chalked it up to a jeep noise. 9. The winch is shown in several photos but not mentioned on the list (unless I missed it). Is that included? The winch is not included unless the reserve price is reached. I am borrowing it from a friend so i cant really include it in the sale unless i can pay for it. 10. With the tire, trans, gearing combination - what kind of gas mileage do you typically get, more specifically what kind of range are you getting out of a full tank of gas? This is pretty much the only question i will have a tough time answering because i never pay attention to it. I would assume you would get about 16-18 MPG but with more of a radial tire that could change a lot. We would drive up to Old forge Ny and would have to fill up once during the trip almost . So a rough calculation. the trip is about 320 miles. i would say we got about 15 MPG but we were following other people and had to keep up at 75-80 MPH so if you drove at a normal speed obviously you would get better gas mileage. It is a lifted jeep with bigger tires on it so gas mileage is defiantly not in the Pro category :)
