Vehicle Detail
Hello and thank you for your interest. Even though the title shows me as third owner, this car has been owned by my family since new. It was purchased new by my in-laws and then sold to their daughter (my wife) before I took ownership about 47,000 miles ago. My father-in-law was a mechanic so the car was always well cared for and that continued with oil changes every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. There are some nicks and scratches here and there and the paint shows some age, but it cleans up nicely with just a drive through the local car wash. The car has about 147,500 plus miles and will be due for its next oil change at 150,200. IMPORTANT - This car just passed NJ State Inspection in March 2010 so you're good for another 21 months before its due again. UNFORTUNATELY, I WAS DRIVING THE CAR THIS AFTERNOON AND A BRAKE LINE BLEW OUT UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOORBOARD. AS SUCH, I AM RE-LISTING THE CAR FOR SALE "AS-IS". YOU WILL NEED TO FLAT BED THIS CAR IF YOU ARE THE WINNING BIDDER. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION SO IF YOU ARE THE WINNER, YOU HAVE A GREAT CAR THAT ONLY NEEDS A NEW BRAKE LINE TO BE A RELIABLE VEHICLE FOR DAILY DRIVING. I have attached links to five videos showing the car's operation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlM7XP9FWLY In this video, I start the car up and let it idle as I walk around the vehicle. The vehicle has keyless entry so you can enter the car with just a five digit code (a nice feature if you inadvertently lock your keys in the car! Note after I start the car, that the dashboard shows no warning or idiot lights. The two tires given a close up were moved to the back in May 2010 and two new tires installed on the front. The back window was broken in a theft where they stole the AM/FM CD radio in the dash. I re-installed the factory AM/FM, but the quote to replace the back window is nearly $400. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKamKIxnbGU In this video I show the general operations of the Wipers and Climate Control system. A/C is very cold. The FLOOR option is broken, but FLOOR/DEFROST works fine as does DEFROST. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBy8MrIRwmc In this video I show a short drive out to the Garden State Parkway near my home. Yes, the exhaust is a little louder than normal because when I replaced the system a couple of years ago, I installed the dual exhaust system from the Police Service Crown Victoria and used Flowmaster Mufflers. In my opinion, its not loud, but it has a nice sound to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grEtljTapdo This video shows me entering the highway and cruise set at 65 mph. Very quiet ride. On full highway trips, I get nearly 25 mpg and in mixed driving I get about 19 to 22 mpg depending on the mixture. If you get up to overdrive, and drive smoothly, this car is very efficient even for a 4.6 Liter V-8. If you look carefully at video 1 above, the trip computer on the dashboard shows 22.9 MPG average. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klZ6gKi89MQ In this last video I show the operation of the front windows. The two rear door power windows do not work. Since the A/C works great and the front windows work well, I felt no need to spend money to fix the back windows. That is the car as a whole. Now, what is wrong with the car? 1 - Rear Door Power Windows Inoperable 2 - Right Rear Door small window broken. As mentioned earlier, if bid exceeds $1,200, I'll have the window replaced before delivery to the Borrower. 3 - ABS has intermittent failure - Sensors all seem to work, but sometimes the ABS light comes on. The brakes still work fine, but if the light is on, you will not have ABS. 4 - As I said above, the FLOOR setting on the Climate Control does not work, but all other features of the climate control system work fine including the rear defroster. 5 - NO BRAKES - The brakes at the wheels are good, but a brake line blew out under the driver's floorboard. This car has been very well cared for during its life. The mileage is not as important as these cars have been used as taxis as well as police cars and are famous for delivering long mileage life. Motor is reliable and burns about a quart of oil every 1,500 miles which is better than many new cars. The Transmission still shifts firmly and drops into Overdrive as soon as you hit about 37mph. Its almost a game to see how high I can get the average economy between tankfuls. Holds about 18+ gallons and a full tank is 17 gallons and good for anywhere from 350 to 400 miles depending on your driving. Its a good car and has never left me on the side of the road. Thanks to split braking systems in today's cars, there was enough fluid and pressure to get me back to my house after the brake line blew out. On Jun-27-10 at 12:24:16 PDT, seller added the following information: TIRES AND RIMS - I uploaded three more pictures of the tires and rims. The rims are Alloys that were optional that year. All hubcaps are on the rims and there is even an additional alloy wheel with spare that is original. The two front tires are brand new Trazano's P215 70 R15 with less than 250 miles and the two rear tires are about a year old. The tread depth pics are a little blurry, but the penny disappears up to Lincoln's nose so there is almost no tread wear. All tires hold air with no leakage.
