Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale in this auction is a BEAUTIFUL 1968 BMW R69S, ORIGINAL SURVIVOR. This bike has not been apart, and would be considered by many, including me, to be "too nice to restore". The bike was originally purchased in Germany, which explains the instrument displayed in kilometers. The odometer reads 43,400 km, which is correct, and represents a mere 27,000 miles ridden. The present owner has been enjoying this bike on display inside his house for the last 8-9 years. The carburetors have new floats and lever top kits installed. Also, the sealed battery is new this week. The exhaust is all BMW, and shows no signs of rust decay on the outside at this point. The supersize photos speak for themselves, but there are a few minor issues I must point out. The bike is missing the horn and pump, but does remarkably have the tool kit, which may be incomplete, but is nicely preserved. The bike has the usual, to be expected, nicks, scratches and minor pitting consistant with a bike of this age; 42 years old. Under the parcel rack there is a dent in the top of the fender (see photo). Aft of the battery, on the fender, frame and final drive tube, there is some battery acid damage to the paint, not bad though. There was evidence of a rear main seal weep when we aquired the bike, which will be left to the new owner. We simply cleaned the bike in preparation for this ad, and did not use any aggressive conservation methods so as to avoid disturbing the bikes natural patina. And finally, the wheels have undergone a generally accepted upgrade, including stainless steel rims, spokes and brushed stainless wheel covers. Questions about this bike are most directly answered by contacting: Fred - 208.336.0367 x215 or btfast@aol.com Inquiries sent through eBay will likely be referred to Fred. The bike is available for preview in Boise, Idaho just 5 minutes from the Boise Airport, along I-84 by arrangement. For sale locally means that the auction can be ended at any time. Your winning bid is considered a commitment to satisfactorily complete the transaction. The winning bidder is asked to transfer a $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal, and begin making arrangements for payment with us, within 72 hours of the auctions end. The transaction to be completed within a 7 day period, unless other arrangements have been agreed upon. We are more than happy to turn the bike over to your shipper, according to your directions, by your arrangement. On Jun-25-10 at 10:25:49 PDT, seller added the following information: The phrase, "for sale locally" in this case means that the bike is parked, and getting a great deal of attention, on the showroom floor of a BMW motorcycle dealership. After that, who knows; there is no "buy it now price" assigned to the bike.
