This is a 1964 Classic Beetle with a completely rebuilt engine, a brand new convertible top and in excellent driving condition. It was kept in California through 2008 where I purchased it. In 2009 we had it rebuilt by a VW specialist (Gary Lavere, see www.vwrestorations.com) and then had it shipped to the east coast when we moved from San Francisco. 100 miles on the new engine, pristine new convertible top and headliner, new decklid, new muffler, new steering box, rebuilt gas pedal and much more (all details available to potential purchasers on itemized invoice from Lavere's). Over $7500 of work completed (which is on top of the original $5000 purchase price) to get the car into good daily driver shape for my wife. In general, we spent money to ensure the drivability of the car, not on the body which has the standard dings and chips for a car this age. Lastly, the rear deck lid is new to this car (we replaced a non-spec lid with an original 1964 lid) and although the color is a decent match it is not 100% perfect. We love this car - and hate to sell - but another baby girl on the way for our family means the car isn't getting the use it deserves.
