Vehicle Detail

This car is a rolling streetrod chasis only and not a driving car. It is a project car that will take a whole lot of time, talent, and money to complete. It's a 1941 Studebaker 5 Window Coupe all steel body. Other than the inner rockers, it is about 98% rust free and dent free. I bought the project four and a half years ago and have not touched it since, so it's time for it to go. It sits on the original Studebaker frame and has a narrowed Camero front sub welded in, and also has a Camero 10 bolt rear end installed. I have no idea on the ratio or if it's a posi or a one wheel wonder, as I was planning on doing a 4 bar pro-street with a completely different rearend set up. The master cylinder is mounted in the frame rails under the drivers side floor. I would consider this an incredible body only, that just happens to come with a narrowed Camero front and a Camero rearend that could be used for parts when building the new frame/chasis. The body is so nice and rare that it deserves to be built into a high end car, and the original Studebaker frame is a bit small. And I'm not real impressed with the workmanship of the grafting the subframe to the frame either. However, the body itself is a very rare find in that it's not only rare, but extremely solid, strait, rust/dent free and complete. All good glass, but will need new weather strippings when you go to paint it as the original weather stipping is old and dried a bit. I have all the interior window trim rings. The bumpers and bumper brackets are all good and strait. The grills are good but have some minor pitting and one vein is cracked but could easily be glued or repaired. The dash is all there intact and the painted. It has a GM steering colum that is hooked up and steers the front wheels. There is a very small dent in the left rear fender as seen in the photo, and a small dent in the bottom of the front fender that is also seen in a photo. Someone at some point bondoed over the rusted inner rockers, but I have since chipped the bondo away so you can see the extent of the rust in the rockers. They would both be easy patches to make and weld in as opposed to buying new patch panels. There was some patch work done to the trunk floor at one time, and while it's not as cosmetically perfect as I'd like it to be, it is structually sound and will be unseen when cover by carpet and undercoating, or you could easliy cut out and weld in new sheet metal a little cleaner if you prefer. The lower firewall was butchered up pretty good too when they installed the brake pedals, but again that would be an easy repair too, or could just be covered by carpet inside and stainless sheetmetal in the front. I have both headlight bucket assemblies and bulbs, but only one headlight trim ring. Reproductions are available on the aftermarket and used as well. I have both tail lights and tail light mounts that are in good condition, as well as the window cranks and door handles. The door window hardware is all good as they actuate up and down properly. The interior is hollowed out to a bare body, so it's easy to see that the body itself was never rusted or smashed in the past. What you'll save on body work alone once you go to paint it, is far more than my buy it now price of $3,800. The car is available for local inspection at my home in River Falls, WI which is one half hour east of St. Paul, MN. The zip code for mapquesting or for shipping quotes is 54022. The car is being offered for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sell prior to the auctions end. I have described the car as honestly and as accurately as I can, and am very concerned with maintaining my perfect ebay rating, so if you have any specific questions or concerns, please ask before bidding. I can be emailed or you can call me at 715 426-1966. I also reserve the right to reject bids from bidders with low, no, or poor Ebay ratings, and bids from bidders outside the continental US unless we've spoken and made prior arrangments in advance. I require a $500 deposit into my PayPal account within 24 hours of the auctions end, with the balance due to be received by me within 7 days of the auctions end via cash in person, certified check, or wire transfer. The car will not leave my possession until all funds have cleared my bank. Thanks, and good luck with your search.
