1966 Thunderbird Landau - 428 - AC - Triple Black - Gorgeous Survivor! Here is a gorgeous and totally original, 2 owner, 1966 Thunderbird 2-Dr Town Landau with the optional 428 engine that has only 69,383 miles since new and it looks the part of an extremely well cared for, unmolested car! This top of the line Thunderbird was built at the Wixom Ford plant on February 22, 1966. It was shipped to Frank Cone Ford in Grand Prairie, Texas and sold new on July 15,1966 to M. L. Putman of Grand Prairie. The original selling price to Mr. Putnam was $5598.65. Included is a copy of the Original Title that the prior owner received when he purchased the car on March 29, 2001. He put only about 800 miles on it in the 9 years that he owned it and at 80 years old, he decided it was time to thin his collection and let someone else enjoy his 'baby'! His loss is your gain! I'm not sure of the exact circumstances regarding the low miles and the impeccable condition but as you can see by my photos, this is a gorgeous well cared for and pampered Thunderbird that was certainly garaged and used sparingly on nice days! This is the car to have if you want to feel like an instant celebrity! It's the ultimate cruiser and it gets more attention and appreciation than any exotic or new luxury car could ever get! Included are all the original manuals, Owner Warranty Card, old title and registrations, original key tag, Electrical and Body Assembly Manuals and a folder full of receipts that came with the car! The body is straight as an arrow and all the panel alignments and gaps are factory original and even. The sheet metal is all original to this car and there are no panel replacements and no patches or attempts to hide or cover anything up. The underside is untouched original with no patches or other repairs, so what you see is what you've got and that is a solid and unmolested body! As my photos show, the underside is untouched original and there is no evidence of any prior accident history. It has it's original finish in a very stunning and original, triple Black color combination and the paint is, for the most part, original and in exceptional condition with only a few minor chips or flaws. It appears to be well over 99% original paint and it still looks great! The chrome is gorgeous and the trim is beautiful! The grill is perfect, the vinyl top is still in respectable condition and the glass is all in great shape. This car has the very unique sequential tail lights that still work great! The interior is gorgeous as well and appears to be totally original! The seat upholstery, carpets and door panels are beautiful and there are a couple cracks in the dash pad. The dash cluster is like new with clean and bright gauges! The console is in great condition. Other than the oil press. and gas gauge, all the gauges work as they should and the original AM FM radio plays great! The wipers, heater fan, courtesy lights and running lights all work great! The clock and horn need to be repaired. The power windows and vents all work well and the power door locks and 6 way power seat work great, as well! The distinctive slide-away steering column works great for ease of entering or exiting the vehicle! Mechanically, this classic Thunderbird is in excellent condition and an absolute dream to drive!. The optional 428 engine is FAST and it is an absolute Blast to drive! The engine is smooth and quiet and the transmission shifts like it should. The brakes are good and the exhaust is quiet. The shocks are new and the tires have been replaced with radials for a smoother, better handling ride. The Factory Air Conditioning blows Ice Cold! A partial list of repairs and upgrades done by the prior owner are as follows; 4 new tires, new gas charged shocks, new front springs, complete front end rebuild, align front end, new trunk liner, new mufflers & tail pipes, replaced all belts and hoses, new battery, rebuilt carburetor, new rear brakes and new window motor as well as numerous other minor mechanical repairs!
