Vehicle Detail
Yes this is relisted. This is a real car not a scam. Thank you to everyone who notified me on the person that was running a fake ad. A 2-seat roadster built in 1965 with a long beautiful front end, a shift-it-yourself 4-speed gearbox, and a coat of the most beautiful red paint you'll ever see. The color is red, not green, white or black, but otherwise this matching-numbers 1965 Corvette roadster was America's answer to the sports car.(AWESOME). It packs a great sounding 327 cubic inch V8 under the hood, that you hear through the dual pipes. It will make your toe's curl and the hair on the back of your neck stand, every time you run it through the gears. Restored in 2007, this C2 roadster is the perfect companion for drives in the country or a cross-country or just blast down the ocean side, so nice you'll be afraid to drive it, but thoroughly sorted and rebuilt so that it is as reliable as a MoM and nice enough to draw a crowd anytime you show it. Red wasn't a popular color in 1965, and it's easy to see why. Deep and rich, almost blinding during the day, it's elegant and upscale looking, flashy and in-your-face as you would expect from a little red Corvette. The fiberglass was reworked, but not to perfection, because, as you know, Corvette restorers are a picky bunch. Over-restoration, which is common with almost every other type of car, is frowned-upon by the Corvette collective, so restorers often have a very fine line. Fortunately, the restorer of this car knew that a perfect Corvette was a less valuable Corvette, and decided instead to build a first-rate show and go piece that he wouldn't be afraid to put on the road. Overall, body gaps are good, and the fiberglass is in excellent shape. Factory "authenticity" was retained, because you can still see some of the original seams and bonding strips, just like when they were new (like I said, this is the "correct" way to do it with a Corvette). The red has the perfect shine to it and is deep and lustrous, although as a 2-stage system, I'd say the paint is probably shinier than the original, but about ten times more durable. It was wet sanded and buffed to make it shine, and our detail shop just got done putting a fresh buff on it so it looks like a million bucks. This really is a gorgeous car. Obviously the bumpers and other chrome pieces were restored at the same time as the body, and it looks as good as new all around. I'm fairly certain these are original bumpers, not reproductions, judging from some of the markings on them. Lenses look all original, and the Corvette emblems on the flanks are original. The windshield also look original, the original side glass is remarkably clear, the stainless steel pieces have been highly polished, and overall this car presents extremely well. Powering this great looking C2 roadster is the original "3844459" code 300 horsepower 327 cubic inch V8, with what I believe to be the original chrome air cleaner. It does have a Holley carburetor on it, but I do have the original carburetor. The engine has been rebuilt and well detailed, and you can tell that the restorer did his homework when it came time to paint the engine. There's correct over spray on certain components, and the painter was careful not to "over restore" the engine. You have to remember that these cars were far from perfect from the factory, and intentionally duplicating that look is time-consuming and expensive. The exhaust manifolds are gorgeous "ram's horn" cast iron pieces, and the distributor is shielded by the correct chrome housing. There's a fresh new master cylinder that has the correct labels and finish. Up front, the radiator is accurate with a clutch fan handling the airflow. The engine sends its thrust to a matching-numbers Muncie M20 4-speed manual, the absolute best choice of transmissions in early Corvettes. The 3.08-geared independent rear has fresh seals and paint and looks like new. The chassis itself was detailed when the car was restored, and shows very well today. 4-wheel disc brakes became standard equipment on Corvettes in 1965, and the braking system is completely new front and rear. The exhaust system is also new front to back with stainless mufflers that sound awesome. I believe it to be stock specifications, when you hear it run you'll love it. Wheels are fresh with a set of 215/70/15 bis ply tires that are like new. The gorgeous black interior is the perfect complement to the Red paint. The seat covers and door panels are in beautiful shape, and the carpets were installed at the time of restoration. Most of the trim pieces are excellent originals, suggesting that this was a well-maintained car even before restoration. The clock even works, and in 1965, AM/FM radio was standard equipment. The gauges look crisp and sharp, floor mats were just installed. The wood steering wheel is very probably in original condition, and as a 45-year-old piece, it looks amazing. The black vinyl top is brand new, and the rear window is crystal clear. With the prices on Corvettes skyrocketing, finding a restored one that you can actually drive and enjoy is getting tougher every day. This one has been fully sorted and built to show and drive, and includes a lot of desirable equipment. C2 Corvettes will always be popular, especially matching-numbers roadsters with manual transmissions, so your investment is safe with this one. It runs extremely well, is perfectly happy in traffic or on the open highway, and is surprisingly comfortable for a sports car. If this one doesn't hit all your buttons, I don't know what will, this is one nice Corvette. I will gladly assist you with transportation arrangements from the Airport or Train Station. Also, all paperwork will be provided at a nominal fee of $99.00(excluding New York Residents).
