Thank you! 1971 BUICK SKYLARK GS 455 GRAN SPORT I am pleased to offer this born in Fremont California Buick Gran Sport. This Gran Sport is essentially an original car with a cosmetic freshening. I have pulled all of the engine casting numbers and they are as follows. The block is a 455 casting # 1231738, manufactured 1970 and 1971. The head casting is 1231786 – 455 70-71. The intake manifold is B-1231718 – e – late 1970. Valve covers are 1232068 right and 1232069 left. The VIN number translates as follows: 4 – Buick, 34 - GS-1971, 37 – 2 door hardtop, 1 – year 1971, Z – assembled Fremont, CA. The body and paint are excellent with no apparent previous damage, no rust and beautiful body gaps. We have provided undercarriage pictures and it is the reason that this Gran Sport looks so nice. The vinyl top is excellent. The glass and trim are excellent. The bumpers appear to be original and still have a beautiful shine. The interior is superb. The dash is beautiful with no cracks or distortions. There is some wear on the steering wheel. The seats are near perfect as is the carpet. This is the first year that GM went to lower compression which means they were down on horsepower from the 1970 engines but the good news is now these cars can run on today’s gas without making adjustments or sinking money into gas enhancers or buying racing fuel. This is a splendid Gran Sport and better yet the smart buyers are paying a lot of attention to these cars as you can generally buy them cheaper than any big block Chevelle and yet according to GM you are buying a better car.
