Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a classic and beautiful red with black top 1969 Volkswagen Beetle convertible. This car was purchased in Benicia California in the San Francisco bay area. It is the rare Karmann Edition and it is in nice condition for a 41 year old car. This car has been meticulously cared for by the previous owners and is ready for a new home. Just turn it on, bring down the convertible top and enjoy the summer! The car looks and drives great as is. However, if the new owner wants a perfect show car, it only needs a few minor things to get it to pristine level. The car has the factory 4 cylinder engine with a 4-speed manual transmission. Mechanically, the engine fires up each time and the transmission shifts and works flawlessly. The car was inspected by my mechanic prior to listing it and it checks out fine. All necessary adjustments were made to make this car safe and fun to drive home. The odometer shows 2195 miles on it. However, upon inspection, it appears that this car had the engine and engine compartment components refurbished or replaced recently and look almost new. The brakes, brake cylinders, brake lines appear to have been replaced recently too. The electrical is in fine working order including the headlights, tail lights, front and rear blinkers, turn signals, back up lights and inside dome light. The two speed wipers and horn work great. The car has an Audiovox cassette, AM/FM stereo which turns on but does work as the car needs speakers. The interior is in near perfect condition. The original front bucket and rear bench seats with perforated vinyl are in perfect condition with no tears and still dark black. The dash is in perfect condition with no cracks. The side door and rear panels, dash and carpet are in very nice shape too. The only thing is that that gas cap cover opener works but it will have to be replaced as the handle has broken off. The front right side carpet has been detached in order to operate the gas cover opener and can be replaced later if desired. The convertible top and rear plexi-glass window is in very nice shape too. The top opens, closes and latches perfectly. The car has an aftermarket leather steering wheel, and vintage aftermarket chrome with wood front and rear window cranks. The trunk is nice condition. It is carpeted and has a spare wheel and tire. This is a solid daily driver and the body and paint are in overall nice condition. The car has minor dings and a small dent which is located in the front left fender. It also has three rust bubbles. Two are located in the front trunk area. The other rust bubbles are on the right side near the door hinge area. It also has rust underneath both frame side rails. The Chrome is in great shape too. There is only small area with surface peeling on the left side of the rear bumper. The front right light bezel has rust on the right corner. The radio antenna and two side view mirrors are in nice condition. The car comes with the original factory chrome wheels and VW chrome center caps. All four radial tires are almost new. This is fun, safe and cool classic car. Please bid with confidence. I have included a great deal of detail in description so that the new buyer can make the right decision based on the information I know and the things I can see. This classic beauty has a fair, reasonable and to a certain extent low reserve based on the condition the car is in. The car will be sold with a California Clear Title and current California Vehicle Registration. It is sold “AS-IS” and As Described with no written or implied warranty. Please write or call me with any questions prior to bidding at zolazaba@aol.com or 408-482-0373 (California, West Coast, Pacific Time). This auction is for USA buyers only. No International sales. Payment in full is required within 72 hours of the auction close in the form of a cashier’s check drawn from a major U.S bank. Funds must clear my back before the car is released. Out of state cashier’s checks take long to clear. Shipping is the responsibility of the new owner and pickup of the car is needed within 7 days of close of the auction. I will work with the new buyer with all shipping arrangements and pick up schedule. Thank you for taking a looking at my auction. On Jun-01-10 at 19:54:45 PDT, seller added the following information: 6/1/10- Possible Correction: My understanding is this is actually an authentic Volkswagen Karmann Edition Leather Steering Wheel with Correct Center Cap. The center cap has a logo with an image which looks like a castle with a wolf on the top center and running water on the lower bottom. It is in nice condition. On Jun-04-10 at 19:43:13 PDT, seller added the following information: After much more internet research I was able to locate the vehicle ID Plate on this car. The plate is located on this car behind the spare tire in the trunk compartment. The plate, words and numbers are in German but the information I see on the plate looks like this: VOLKSWAGENWERK A6 MADE IN GERMANY 15.9 247959 1230 500 740 I wanted to mention that the paint underneath the black coat in the trunk is red. Therefore, it appears that this car is factory red. Pictures of the ID plate and the truck are available. On Jun-04-10 at 20:05:39 PDT, seller added the following information: The trunk compartment looks great. The car has a 15" spare tire and wheel. However, upon close inspection, I noticed that the spare tire has cracks on the sidewalls and should be replaced. The steel wheel is yellow and not red like the car. This can easily be spray painted red in the future if desired. The car is missing the tire jack.
