Vehicle Detail

I acquired this CL450 several years ago from the second owner. It had been sitting around since the early eighties, but was properly stored. The miles are original at 4989 as is the engine-# CL45E1007660,very close to the 1007622 frame number. It runs but the left cylinder has low compression. Plan on doing the top end over if you want to use this bike. That being said this is the first year for the 450 scrambler as its own model. Its in original unmolested condition,a very collectible bike, well worth restoring. I've done some work on it including new wheel bearings,a good set of tires including a nice K70 dunlop and other bits that were missing. It has all the correct cylcle parts for a '68 including steering damper, covered rear shocks, angled strut front fender, pebble finish seat cover,'68 only round badge gas tank and the ultra rare sidecover decals which are in excellent condition-a set sold on E-bay for $200 last year. The only exception is the exhaust which is from a '71. Its the same style with the replaceable lower tip,but has a one piece shield;the '68 has two. Its in excellent shape with no rust or holes other than the factory drain hole in the bottom. A couple of '68 sets have popped up in the last year,so you can find one if you want. The tank is clean inside with no rust but is dented and missing the the emblem mounting bracket on the right side. I have another '68 tank with the bracket that goes with the bike. There are no tank emblems. The chrome on the rims, shocks, exhaust, handlebars, etc is in very good condition and there is very little corrosion on the bike. The electrics work but the starter clutch is unreliable. The starter motor is fine but it doesn't always turn over the engine,a common problem with sixties Hondas. This is a very straight bike which has never been dumped or wrecked. My plan was to paint the tank and do the top end which would turn it into a very respectable rider. This bike was 3rd on my project list, but I just picked up an early CB750,so now its pushed back and at my age I'm not sure I'm ever going to get to it. As you can see from the pictures,I don't lack for bikes to work on. I'm happy to talk about any of the other bikes in my collection, but none are for sale at this time. This is a nice opportunity for someone who wants a collectible classic, for short money,to ride and work on that will surely appreciate in value over time. This bike has been off the road for over 25 years and has no paperwork-Mass. didn't require titles for bikes over ten years old back then. You can get one from a title service company for $150 or so. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION. PLEASE BE SURE YOU WANT TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE SALE BEFORE YOU BID. I have been riding, collecting and working on bikes for over 40 years. I have bought and sold many bikes on E-Bay over the last ten years with no problems. This is a fun hobby for me,not a business and I treat people the way the way I want to be treated-FAIRLY. I can help you load the bike, store it once paid for or rec. a shipper if you can't pick it up. I can be reached at 508 992-5770 weekdays. If you have questions or concerns about this bike contact me before you bid. I am a member of VJMC,BSAOCNE and HOG National.
