Vehicle Detail
This is '73 Capri with the #'s matching 2600 engine. The car was parked in early '82 and has not been started since. It will probably run but I do not guarantee it, as I have not had time to mess with it. I did turn the engine by hand, and it is not stuck. It is 100% complete and original with a clear Texas title. The keys have been lost over the years though. It has the manual 4speed transmission with external shift linkage. Everything was in good working order when it was parked but it has been sitting for nearly 30 years. The rear quarters have rust in them and the trunk is pretty rusty too. There is a couple of rust holes on the top of the right rocker panel in the door jamb, but the floor pans, external rockers, and front fenders are solid. It still has all of the a/c components, and has a date tag on the compressor that says 9/72. It has "MS" in the v.i.n. that means it was built in Nov. '72, and the "UX" is for the 8.2:1 2600 engine, "R" for the 3.22 axle ratio, and "B" for the external linkage four speed. It has 140 mph speedometer, and a 7,000 rpm tach, and a cool VDO clock in a pod that says made in Germany. I am starting the auction at 400.00 which I feel is a very fair starting price, (tranny is worth that). I will NOT part out this complete car so please do not ask. This car is sold as is, where is, and has no warranty, and will need total restoration or be used for parts. The car can sit here for one month after the end of the auction, but will need to be moved a.s.a.p. Pick-up and delivery will be the buyers responsibility. I will assist in loading the car. It is located in Waco Texas (76705). Any questions just ask. Deposit through pay-pal, 400.00 within 24hrs. of end of auction, and the rest (if any) due through money order or cashiers check within 3 days of end of auction. Thank you for looking and happy bidding. UPDATE!!!!!!! I am re listing this car because the winner of the previous auction could not find reasonably priced transport for the vehicle (about 1500 miles). No problems, great guy. I had a little time to mess with it, and I know now that it runs I put a hot battery in it (not included in auction), filed the points, disconnected the fuel line to keep the old gas out of the carb, took the ignition switch cover down because I dont have keys, and the piece that mounts the lock and tumbler was broken. The electrical part and lock and tumbler are fine, its the pewter mount that is broke, nbd. Primed it with B12, and it started and ran, not long (I only primed it), but it ran, and sounded like all six were hitting. I am not saying that it does not need a rebuild or some work, but I know now that it is at least a decent #s matching core to build if need be. I noticed about a quarter inch hole corroded in the thermostat housing while I was doing this. I had a question last go round about rust in the leaf spring perches and frame, and all of that is in good condition. The main rust I see is the spare tire well and rear quarters. It does still have the spare in it by the way, any questions just ask. I need to move this car!!! I need the space. Thanks again. UPDATE!!!!!!!!! I put the battery back in the car this morning and this time I filled the bowl on the carb up with fresh gas, and this time I had more time to hear it run and I was very impressed! I have'nt heard one of these little sixes run until this one but these things sound tuff. It will hit 6500 in the blink of an eye! It had about 50lbs. of oil pressure and the best part is, no smoke, and no knocks! All of the gauges appeared to be working correctly, including the tach, I checked the wiper motor and it worked, the old crackely AM radio even came on. I thumped the clock and the second hand took off working.
