Vehicle Detail
1990 Volvo 780 Turbo Coupe. I'm going to try to give you as many details as possible so you know what you are bidding on. This is a fairly rare car with a lot of potential, but I want you to know exactly what you are bidding on. That protects both of us. I will answer any additional questions you may have and try to cover things thoroughly, but I may miss something, so please ask about anything you need to know about that I may not have covered. The mileage on the car shows 160362. At the time I bought it, the title from the auction company showed actually mileage unknown. The odometer works fine, but the title shows non-actual mileage. The car has a clear title, which is in my name and in my possession. The Good: NO RESERVE and low starting price .. highest bidder wins it. Overall very nice, straight body. The doors, trunk lid and hood all fit nicely and open and shut easily. The condition of the body was one of the primary factors that led me to purchase the car. Motor runs well and the turbo pulls strong. I've driven it about 60 miles since the following items were replaced/serviced: New front brakes and rotors, new rear brakes and rotors, new timing belt, new accessory belts, recent oil and filter change with synthetic oil, fresh air filter, power steering fluid changed. I replaced both of the trunk struts with new units, plus I have one good spare additional strut which goes with the car. Currently Licensed/Insured with a Clear Ohio Title. The Bad: The rear nivomat shocks need to be replaced. The air conditioning is not working properly. No radio in the car. Interior wise... The dash has cracks, the wood is losing it's "varnish". The power passenger seat no longer works. The driver's seat has limited movement. The leather on the seats is old and has several seem splits. In general, the interior needs a lot of work. There is a small dent below the license plate in the rear (see pix), the front fiberglass panel under the bumper is mostly gone, the rear panel under the bumper is gone. There is a rust hole under the battery that probably resulted from battery acid leakage. The battery is secure and is not in danger of falling through the hole, but you'll probably want to patch it at some point. Other than that, I know of no other rust holes. There is a small rust place on the passenger side front windshield post, but it doesn't appear to be severe. It is about the size of a quarter. The clear coat has flaked off alot on the upper parts of the car. The car will definitely need to be repainted at some point. The transmission shifts pretty smoothly, but is quick to downshift whenever the accelerator is barely touched. I don't know if there is a sensor or vacuum assist that needs to be adjusted or replaced. Once the car downshifts, it doesn't want to upshift again until you practically let off of the accelerator. The emergency brake is not operational. The exhaust system is quiet, but doesn't look like it has much life left in it. Will need at least two new tires soon. A little more history on the car: I purchased this car with then intent of restoring it. I planned to make it a driving restoration, but the economy has gotten in the way of that. I don't have the money to do much with it at this time. I know very little about Volvos, but this car caught my attention. While at an auction last fall, I took a liking to this car and ended up buying it. I still like the car very much and would love to keep it. Like many other people, however, I have since become "employment challenged" and need money more than I need the car. My loss is your gain. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have or get additional pictures of anything you want to see. If you wish to see the car in person, I live in Dayton, Ohio and will be glad to show it to anyone who wishes to inspect it. The car is sold without any warranty and pick-up or shipping of the car is the responsibility of the winning bidder. A deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction close. Full payment of the balance should be made by cash or verifiable cashiers check within a week. Once the initial deposit is received, the car should be picked up within 2 weeks. If there are circumstances that might cause a longer delay than that, please contact me ahead of time and we can discuss this, but please talk to me before the auction's end.
