You are bidding on a 1953 GMC Hydra-Matic 5 Window Pickup Truck. Well I can't believe my truck has not sold yet. The economy must be bad because I was offered 4 years ago $20,000 for this truck. Should of, would of, could of.. Haha. Going to drive her to car show this weekend so odometer will go up about 45 miles. This is special truck because 1953 was the first year that GMC started producing these pickups with its automatic GMC Hydra-Matic Transmission. They did a good job because this one is still working fine! This is one beautiful truck and that turns heads and draws crowds everywhere I go. I hate to part with it but I just do not have enough time to enjoy it as well as the space and money to maintain it like it should be. I purchased this truck in 2001 via "Old Car Trader" magazine and shipped from Nebraska to me in New Jersey. The previous owner gave this truck a frame off restoration back in the mid 80's. This truck has stayed in my garage and only has come out on sunny days. Mainly been driving to car shows and events within 30 miles and around town on weekends. I have only driven this vehicle around 800 miles since 2001. Pull choke 3/4 way out, pump gas 4 times, push start button and she will fire right up. Drives well, brakes well. I usually drive it at 45 to 50 on open road. Usually no problems, but every now and then, if car sit for long period when running at 40+ will start to putter and loose power. Will then still run fine below 40. Usually after motor runs for awhile it resolves problem. I was told that it might be gunk in carburetor, fuel line or bad fuel from sitting too long. If it happens, I'm sure if you know what your doing, you or your mechanic would be able to figure out with quick fix. This truck has no dents. The top of roof does have about a three inch scratch in center of roof that you cannot see from the ground. Since this truck is an older 80's restoration, the paint is showing some wear in a few spots with some paint stress fractures and light scratches. That I tried to show in pictures. The back fender has two bubbles that showed up about three years ago and engine hood has some small little bubbles on it as well as some small flaking of paint on side end of hood and wear hood meets body. Besides that rust is hard to find. But even with that this truck is definitely a head turner! Interior is very clean and nicely restored. Some of small screws are missing from interior trim moldings and door hinges need some maintenance because they intermittently seize from time to time. All gauges, lights, fan, heat, windows, wipers all work!
