Vehicle Detail
johnnywiffer Store This is really a pretty nice car, probably average for a 54-year-old car. (Tho the odometer says 5900, I'm sure it's over 100k.) I think it has original paint but could stand a re-paint because the paint has faded. The tires have probably 20,000 miles left. There is surface rust below the front bumper and on the lower rear grille. The lower rear quarter panel, driver’s side is rusted thru as have many Corvairs of this type. And as you can see, a pretty deep scratch on the rear driver’s side. I could find no damage repair, so it has probably NOT been any any major accidents. Now for the good stuff. 110 engine, very peppy. All electricals work except radio and WS washer. The interior is in really good condition for a car this old. In fact, except for the slightly faded carpet, it is in excellent condition. Rear seat folds down for more cargo room. (Sorry, no pix but looks like new—no rips nor tears) It is an automatic that shifts as it should, doesn’t appear to leak and drives very well. Glass is good and all there. Windows roll up and down easily. Doors close solidly. It has an AC that is not hooked up, tho the fan blows. The PO told me it needed a charge but it also needs a belt, the compressor cut-off safety switch and the fast idle solenoid. (If you’re a Corvair person, you understand.) When I got it, the PO had had someone who knew NOTHING about Corvairs work on it, so the spark plugs and wires were incorrect, as was the tire pressure and the fan belt adjustment. It has a new fuel pump, turn signal repair and rebuilt alternator. I have since tuned it up and balanced the carbs so it gets pretty fair mileage—around 24 at 70 mph. It has a new Clark’s fan belt. I drove it from AZ to San Antonio when purchased a few months ago, with zero mechanical problems. Actually got MAAAANY thumbs up! Corvairs are simple and easy to work on. Doesn’t need power steering nor power brakes because of the rear engine. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere. BUY IT!! YOU'LL LOVE IT! On Apr-26-10 at 07:13:43 PDT, seller added the following information: If the buyer uses the “Buy It Now”, I will include in this sale the balance of the Corvair parts I bought for this car. Tho they are used, they include an AC compressor, condenser and dash panel (includes a clock) for a ’66 Monza plus a set of Corsa wheel covers AND a set of ’67 wire wheel covers (round, not 3 point, centers), a Monza and a Corsa glove box door plus miscellaneous parts (tail light lenses, rear trim, steering wheel w/horn ring. AM radio, rear bumper w/ guards). I may have missed a few things but they go too. So HIT THAT BIN and come get the goodies! And so there is no mis-understanding, the $200 deposit mentioned in the “Payment and Shipping” details is NON-refundable.On Apr-28-10 at 16:02:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I've added some pix and lightened others. I'm really not trying to hide any thing. My camera stopped working as I was taking the last bunch of pix, so none of the floor, tho the floor is in pretty good condition with no holes. I've also found some more wire wheel covers to throw in the pot--2 two-ear spinner 13" '62-'63 type (excellent condition) and 2 later model with 13" tri-ear spinners (also excellent condition) plus a couple of 14" 3 ear type with one ear broken off each. And a Uni-Syn type carb balancer. If I missed anything in my Corvair parts department, it's also going with the car. It'll be a surprise!
