Vehicle Detail

Dodge Ram Van 3500 V8 5.2 liter, automatic. White with gray interior. For sale in good running condition, just needs a little work. It was purchased in 2005 from a local hotel where it had been used as an airport shuttle since new. I removed the decals and all but the driver's seat (which was originally the passenger seat) to use the van for newspaper delivery. The seats were all sold at auction along with the plexi divider. It was used in this manner for a little less than two years and serviced regularly. Since 2007 I have worked in retail close to home and only use it a few times a week (less than 100 miles each week). It has a number of small problems, some mechanical, some cosmetic, but nothing out of the ordinary for it's age and mileage. Most of these are somewhat easy fixes but require more time and money than I care to invest since I have other transportation now. In the last few years I have made a number of repairs. The transmision was rebuilt two 1/2 years ago and in that time I have replaced the water pump, alternator, starter, battery, timing belt, oxygen sensor, front ball joints and control arms. The only major thing left to do after 7 years of service was the brakes and I just never got to it. The front rotors are in very poor condition and have quickly run through the last couple of pads. They would both need to be replaced along with the right front caliper (rubber has cracked). I have not checked the rear brakes but one makes a pretty awful noise at times which caused me to stop driving it before it got much worse. New rotors are anywhere from $55-65 but used or refurbushed ones would be half as much and just as effective. After the core trade-in a new caliper is less than $30. So the brakes could be like new for a couple hundred if you just have more time than I do. The minor things are: Windshield wipers, occasionaly they don't work though it has been a while since I had that problem. Headlights, the most recent problem. I assume it's an issue with the switch since they both just quit at once, but the high beams still work if you pull back on the lever and hold it. Driver's window. The power window motor still works but the cable will only allow it to go halfway up. I pulled it up the rest of the way by hand and held it with a rubber door-stop. I took off the door panel but couldn't get to it to fix it. It sounds and feels like the cable is tangled inside the motor housing. Minor dents and scratches, the front bumper has a large dent, paint is faded on top. Radio does not work (due to small leak just above dash, only an issue in heavy rain). Battery cable or just the connectors should be replaced. The positive cable is loose and no longer has a bolt holding it on. A/C & heat work but the fan only works on the highest setting (maybe just a new switch). It has overheated twice since December. I traced the problem to a couple of cracked hoses and patched them (well, duct taped them) and haven't had an issue, though I have made sure to check the coolant level regularly and it does usually need water. Finally! The good!! Yes there is some, haha. It's a strong running motor and besides the minor issues has been a reliable van for me these last five years. It has power windows and locks, allow wheels (missing a couple caps), a beeping backup indicator, tinted rear windows, extended body with great headroom in the rear. With a few days work it could be a great work van or would be suitable with new seats for other transportation. You are welcome to contact me if you would like to see it (schedule permiting) and I have posted a couple of videos in addition to the photos. If there is something else you would like to see or have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
