1967 GTO Convertible - PHS Documented! Barn / Garage Find! Here is an 'as found' and PHS documented, real 1967 GTO Convertible that would make a great restoration project for the novice restorer as well as the professional. It was found in a garage here in the Phoenix area where it sat, untouched, for the past 15-18 years. The owner had good intentions of restoring it one day but never did much with it. I had intentions of doing it myself but came to the realization that I had too many other projects ahead of it so I will let someone else bring it back to its' former glory! The list of options as it is currently equipped is as follows: -335hp 400 cu in (?) 4 BBL V8 Engine -Turbo Hydra-Matic Transmission -His and Hers Hurst Shifter -Power Steering -Bucket Seats -Console -Rally II Wheels -AM Radio -RWL Radial Tires The VIN is: 242677P293078 The Data Trim Tag reads as follows: 05E 9 ST 67-24267 PON 3225 BODY Trim 223-B G-2 Paint W2ZG The odometer Reading is: 21,519 (not actual) As my photos show, the body is in decent condition and someone started sanding and priming it years ago but I would start over and do it right. Although there are some minor rust issues that will need attention, I believe that you could easily retain all the original sheet metal and just do the needed repairs on these areas during the restoration. In the interest of full disclosure, I want to specifically address these areas for you. The outside body and sheet metal is actually very straight with little or no visible problems from the outside. The right rear quarter panel has some bad body work around the wheel opening that needs correcting. Other than one small spot on the drivers' side front floor pan, the rest of the interior floor pans are very solid and original. The trunk floor has a problem area in each front corner, but again, probably fixable with out replacing the entire trunk floor because the rest of the trunk floor is very nice. As you can see in my photos, somebody put sheet metal patches over the holes and I removed part of them to disclose the condition. The left rear body support needs replacing and there has been some repair to the back of the inner rear fender wells and adjoining area behind the rear tires. There is a dent in the right rocker panel under the rocker molding. There is a small tear in the right frame rail, probably from towing it wrong or something and there are a few pin holes in the bottom of the rail. It doesn't appear to have had any major prior accident history and the sheet metal appears to be mostly original to this car. In my opinion, this will be a very easy and straight forward restoration and definitely worth the effort! The original colors are Signet Gold with Black interior and Black top and you now have the opportunity to personalize it with your own color preferences! The chrome trim is all in place and very restorable. The bumpers are rust free and in good replateable condition. The interior is very complete and will need to be restored. The gauges are all in decent shape and the original radio is still in place. The original steering wheel, seat belts, console and Hurst His and Hers shifter are all there and someone has already installed new carpeting. The convertible top assembly is complete and in good shape and just needs the hydraulics repaired as well as a new top installed. All the side windows are in good shape and operate as they should and the windshield is cracked. It is not running right now and I don't know much about the mechanical condition of the car, but it appears that the engine and transmission were installed not long ago and never really made roadworthy. I have decided not to spend the time to make it roadworthy because I feel that it needs to come apart to be restored to the level that it deserves to be, anyways. The fuel pump is faulty and the engine wants to run when pouring gas in the carb, so I think the engine is basically in good condition. I can't determine for sure if it is the original engine because there are no numbers on the front of the block so assume that it isn't. It has 670 heads and the intake and carb look correct. The trans linkage has yet to be hooked up and the brakes need to be bled and possibly repaired before it could be driven. The tires are like new and it has the Rally II 14" wheels that would be correct for the car. The front suspension should be rebuilt and the right rear shock mount needs repair as the shock was pulled out at one time. The power steering hoses are missing. All in all, this is a very complete and rather unmolested GTO and it does need and definitely deserves, a total restoration! GTO's are some of the most sought after collector cars in the market today! The '67 GTO Convertible is generally considered to be the most desirable year and model! These are getting harder and harder to find and now is your chance to own an interesting and desirable piece of automotive history! Whether you're a professional or novice restorer, it should be an easy restoration! This 'Diamond in the Rough' is priced to sell with a LOW RESERVE!
