Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1973 Dodge Challenger. It has a 340 V8 with a 4 Barrel. I purchased the car 2 years ago from New Jersey, towed it home and its been in my garage waiting for its turn to be restored. Due to my sisters recent death, priorities have shifted from play toys to raising her 5 kids. The reason I purchased this car was because its all complete. Having restored a few Mopars, I know the endless quests for a piece of molding, an ashtray, bumper jack etc. They didnt make a lot of any Mopar cars, but even less are unmolested. I have literally started the car every 2 weeks with all my other cars and this is the only Mopar I have ever owned that actually idles when first started. It is B5 blue with a repaint being done roughly 5 years ago by the previous owner. Its shiny and looks good but its not a show car. I normally take them all the way apart and put them on a car twirler and sandblast and start from ground zero. The plan for this car was pretty much disassemble, clean, go through it completely and add a 6 pack setup. Noticed today that there is a weeping of power steering fluid. I'll know tomorrow when I put it on my lift if its a line, pump or steering box. Pretty straight forward repairs that I have no issue doing, just putting it out there. Car has black interior with bucket seats, center console, slap stick automatic. All the trim, bumpers etc is there. This would be a great work on it and improve it while you enjoy it and drive it car. Maybe a father and son / daughter project. Thats all up to you. If you want to show up and take a look, feel free, bring some money and go enjoy it. I will gladly assist with transporting if needed, but we will have to work all that out after we come up with a mutually agreeable price. The days of finding one thats complete that you can drive and enjoy are rapidly passing. Ive built more than my fair share of Mopars from a pile of parts after someone got in over their head to know that all the stuff your missing costs more than what you paid for the car. Make your Christmas awesome! This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. People have asked for photos and I have them. If you send me an email address, I will gladly send what I have. I also have a video of the car started cold and running with a walk around of the car. I guess you can only have 24 pics total and I have a ton more now. The drivers side floor board where the floor transitions to the firewall has had a piece of metal put in. I would personally at the least do a partial pan here for the drivers side. Its technically been replaced but not the stellar job you would want, but one you could drive around with. Other than that, it has been repainted and best I can tell there has been repairs to rockers, quarters etc at bottom but they look solid from underneath. Does not appear to be sporting lots of filler. The power steering leak appears to be coming from the seal on the actual steering box. The seal is where the steering wheel linkage connects. Should not be too bad to remove the box and replace the seal on the bench. Also, since its a 45 year old car, I would put new seals on the tranny output shaft, front and rear engine oil seals and anywhere else where sitting tends to show up quickly. I want to portray the car accurately because having purchased cars on eBay, I know the anxiety that comes with wondering and hoping. I have been screwed before and want you to be informed and know what I know. From the bottom appears very solid, other than the one floor pan section where your feet go when driving.
