2005 DIESEL Volkswagen Passat GLS TDI Wagon 146,000 miles/231,000kms Opening bid $3,500 USD $4,500 buy it now Highlights: - Needs nothing for DOT safety certification; service is absolutely up to date; no major service should be due on the engine for many years - Meticulous record of preventative maintenance. In 2016 I spent over $8k to overhaul the mechanicals back to “new” all if which is fully documented in the service file that will come with the car - Perfect alignment and no drivetrain vibrations; tracks perfectly straight - Rare BBS 16” alloy rims in excellent shape (no curb rash and never previously used in winter) with nearly brand new tires (less than 1000 miles on new tires – manufacturer DOT date stamp is 0918) - Frost Heater block heater installed. Heats and circulates coolant through the engine to ensure not only easy starts and perfectly smooth running in cold weather but also instant heat when the car is started. - All speakers were upgraded to JBL shortly after purchase; CD changer is pre-wired (CD changer not included but units that will plug and play are easy to find)- Leather is in excellent shape all around; only slight creasing in bolster on driver's side seat; barely any other signs of wear - Both original fully functioning VW switchblade remote keys - An excellent, bullet-proof reliable German-made wagon with tons of useful interior space and extremely good fuel mileage; approximately 600 miles/900 km on a tank. - Original carpet mats are like new; a set of deep groove soft rubber floor mats also included. - Strictly a non-smoking car. - A/C is ice cold Options:- All options that were available for this car were ordered, including upgraded stereo (further upgraded with JBL speakers) leather interior, leather steering wheel and shifter, tinted glass power moon roof, heated front seats. The block heater and rims were better than what VW was offering at the time and added after market. Major Service Completed: - Upgraded oil pump from belt to stronger gear driven system August 2011 - Front struts and rear shocks replaced March 2016 - Complete turbo replacement March 2016 - Timing belt and water pump replaced August 2016 - A/C compressor replaced August 2016 - New Continental summer tires installed May 2018 - Oil and filters (including pollen) and lube service last completed November 2018Body Work/Preventative Maintenance Completed:- Front fenders replaced and finished by VW under warranty 2013; minor damage from a 2008 scrape on the right front fender (as noted in Carfax report) was also repaired back to factory specs at that time - Rear hatch glass removed and hatch stripped, refinished and re-sealed under warranty by VW 2013 - Hood stripped and refinished September 2015 - Windshield removed and leading edge of roof stripped and refinished/new seal installed on windshield September 2015 Issues: - The rear seat 12v outlet was accidentally broken and not replaced; the plug is there to receive a new unit. - The car was fitted with a Cobra rear sonar back-up indicator system new at the dealer. After several years a problem developed with the box that the sensors plug into, but the dealer was unable to find a replacement. The system is intact and otherwise functioning; it just requires the box the sensors plug into to work. - There are a few surface early stage rust spots that I would have repaired if I was planning to drive the car for another 10 years - no perforations (see pic). - Body has some scratches and door dings (it drives me absolutely nuts that people do that) but with the shine in the paint they’re hard to see and the car still looks stunning from 20ft. - The engine has a slow oil leak in the summer only. I am told that this is unfortunately par for the course for this generation of TDI engines. A great, reliable, super-economical family (and a whole lot more) hauler. Unless specifically noted, everything works exactly as it should. I’ve sold a few of my cars on eBay over the years and always try my very best to include as much detail as possible. I’ve never had an unhappy buyer. TERMS: $500 USD deposit required via paypal upon confirmation of winning bid following auction. Remainder to be paid by certified check, bank draft that can be deposited at a Canadian bank or direct transfer of US funds (or equivalent) no later than 7 days following auction close. The deposit is non-refundable if the deal isn’t completed due to any action or inaction of the buyer. The car is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I will be happy to work with shipping companies and customs brokers of the buyers choosing (at the buyer’s expense) for U.S. sales and with shippers for Canadian sales requiring transport.
