Vehicle Detail
I bought this in 1979 as a teenager and finished restoring it in 1982 but joined the Navy a few months later. The previous owner was the next door neighbor of my Scoutmaster who drove the owner to pick up the car when he bought it in 1951 before I was even born. I stored it in my parents’ garage on jack stands with the engine cylinders coated with Marvel Mystery Oil for over 20 years. I've kept it in my driveway since 2003. All I could afford as a teenager was acrylic paint which didn’t last long when left outside but the body is still solid. It’s been years since I started it but it was running in 2006 when I replaced the water pump. Since then, the brakes stopped working (probably needs fluid) and the choke coil needs to be rewound with new wire. I started restoring it again but have moved and don’t have the time or space to finish. The restored upholstery and headliner are still in good shape. The parts removed are in the trunk. All the essential parts are still with it but the hood has been missing the “O” since before I bought it. I’m sad to part with it and only have six pictures of it after I restored it the first time. I can give a few restoration suggestions to the buyer.
