1997 Geo Metro LSi with a 1.3 liter 4 cylinder engine.The Good:Car has good paint for its age, no rust, and has never been in an accident. It has a clear Texas title in my name. The transmission and air conditioning work great. The interior is great for a 20 year old economy car. It was a daily driver until a couple months ago. It is small and economical. The gas tank holds 8 gallons and lasts a long time.It is a simple design and the engine is small. It would be very easy for a shade tree mechanic to work on. The Bad:The engine has had an oil leak for a long time and has developed a knock. I found a piston ring and pieces of a piston in my oil pan while trying to diagnose the knock. Part of the piston on the 3rd cylinder has disintegrated, however it still has compression and still runs and drives. I decided to park it so as not to be stranded if the engine failed.The condenser fan for the air conditioning does not work. It is a new fan, and probably just needs a new relay in the fuse box. This means the air conditioner blows cold while driving, but will get warm when stopped at a red light. In my opinion this car is a good candidate for an engine swap or rebuild, and I planned to swap the engine myself if it does not sell.
