Vehicle Detail

What a blast! This mini sport truck drives like a sports car, low and fast, yet can be used as a small pickup to haul whatever you need. A mechanic in Georgia constructed this car using the Smyth Performance Jetta/Golf Ute kit, which features aluminum structural components including the truck bed, with fiberglass body panels from the rear of the cab back. He added all new upgraded drilled rotor disk brakes all around, and staggered aluminum wheels with brand new rubber. Plus a Maxspeeding rods adjustable coilover suspension. Finally, the car was freshly painted in a gorgeous Mustang blue color and a new Pioneer touch screen car stero installed. For further information on the conversion kit see https://www.smythkitcars.com/jetta-golf-ute I drove the car back from Georgia to northern California earlier this year, stopping in Mississippi to visit a friend and also side trips to Santa Fe, New Mexico and the Grand Canyon. The truck performed flawlessly the entire trip, delivering 30 mpg for the journey. It always started and ran perfectly, cruising at 75 mph effortlessly, and drawing attention wherever we stopped. Since then, I have had all the emission hoses and manifolds replaced, the same for cooling system hoses and manifolds with new coolant, an oil change and a four wheel alignment. I've used the truck to pick up all sorts of winemaking equipment, including barrels and racks, a destemmer and a press. It's always handled the job, but I've come to the sad conclusion that it's just not large enough to haul the quantity of grapes I need. So I am replacing it with a larger truck. There is some minor body damage to the fiberglass roll pan on the rear, due to the truck's low ride height and my steep driveway approach angle. I was going to have an aluminum rub strip fabricated to cover this, but never got around to the project. Otherwise, a good body guy could repair this easily. See the last photo for detail. The other fault is that the air conditioning system doesn't blow very cool. I added some additional R134 but it didn't help much. Maybe the compressor needs attention. In any case, rolling down the windows a bit and opening the sliding rear window create enough air flow to keep things cool. I'd love to keep this as it's so much fun to drive, but I need a much larger truck. Some lucky bidder is going to get this well sorted mini sport truck in a no reserve auction, so bid early and often. Please send any questions you may have, and I will respond as quickly as possible. PLEASE NOTE: TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, NOR WAS THERE ANY INSURANCE CLAIM OR SETTLEMENT. FOR SOME REASON, THE STATE OF OREGON LISTED IT AS "TOTALLED" IN ADDITION TO RECONSTRUCTED WHEN I TITLED IT. I HAVE ATTACHED 2 PHOTOS FROM THE BUILDER, SHOWING THE DONOR CAR DURING THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS.
