Vehicle Detail

Car relisted, previous winning bidder geographically confused and thought car was in Texas although auction clearly stated Connecticut. Needs Engine, runs but knocks and needs new battery. Very well maintained Jeep Cherokee with service records. These vehicles are legendary and basically bulletproof. Served us extremely well but it was time for us to move on to a newer Jeep. We are hoping someone will invest a few dollars to get many more years out of this classic SUV. Car has been garaged since new and remains in a carport since engine problem diagnosed in July 2017. Small bit of rust visible in pictures below back passenger doors. Many newer parts: New radiator and thermostat 5/2017 (engine died two months later) Rear Drum Brakes 3/2016 Front Brakes Pads & Rotors 5/2015 Bridgestone Dueler Tires (raised outlined white letters) about 25 - 30% remaining tread On Jun-20-18 at 19:10:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Update - The car was primarily female owned and driven. The furthest it ever went off road was numerous mall parking lots. Air conditioning does not work. On Jul-15-18 at 17:40:10 PDT, seller added the following information: 7/15/2018 Q: I'm interested in this vehicle however I wanted to know how are the door jams, rocker panels, and floor boards. This is a unibody vehicle so the undercarriage rust plays a big part in me bidding on this vehicle. Again I'm truly interested and this is my second message to you regarding this vehicle. Thanks ' A:Sorry for the delay, I currently have limited access to the internet. The rust shown in the pictures (lower rear passenger doors) depicts the visible rust. If you open the doors it does not extend into the car with the exception of one spot the size of a half dollar in the door jam that is beginning to show discoloration. With regard to undercarriage, I don't know what the expectation is on a car that spent 17 years in New England and has over 230K miles. Do some of the components have rust? Yes. Did any mechanic ever tell me rust was about render the car useless? No. The car was last started in April but the battery has since died and cannot be jumped. As stated, it needs a new engine and new battery. I would not attempt to drive it since it may throw a rod and if it did, it wouldn't end well. If you are not a mechanic or know someone that is, it will run between $2000-$2500 for a rebuilt engine installed including labor. Hope this helps. Thanks.
