Vehicle Detail

2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS - price reduced! How about a starter car for that newly licensed high school driver? Or how about a convertible for those nice days around town? Or just a beater for those ‘extra’ car needs? Well this may be for you. A top trim level, GTS Spyder convertible, white, with black interior. 217,000 miles. Body has a few dents and dings, as is typical of this kind of first car, but it looks very respectable. Top works, as do most of the systems as outlined, below. The KBB Value for very good condition is shown. If I knock off several bucks for the noted faults, It’s still a great deal. Likewise, even if you use the grade ‘good’ or ‘fair’ you can see the value. This was my middle daughter’s first car in high school. She used it very little, but it was time for her to upgrade to a newer Acura, since she is now gainfully employed, and lives in Kentucky. This car taught her a few things as she started out on her own. She had a few items fixed that I would have taken care of myself if I had been in the same city as her. This is what has been done over the past year: · Radiator – replaced due to a pinhole leak· water pump – replaced w/ remanufactured, OEM· battery – brand new· rear rotors, pads, and parking brake shoes and hardware – Recently replaced· motor mount* * I am told there is still a bad motor mount (there are three) and until it is fixed or replaced, I have taken it easy on full throttle accelerations – or you might get a loud ‘clunk’ and I don’t want to stress the driveline. The front brakes to appear fairly new – I can still make out the printed part markings on the backing. That said, there is some squeaks in the brakes, this might loosen up when it gets some miles on it, it has sat for about 6 months. The engine is a very popular and sought V-6 – more power than this car needs, so lead-foot drivers need some warning. It does require mid-grade fuel for this high compression engine. Now for the handy part… There is a check engine light on – the code says O2 Heater Circuit -- I have reset it and it comes back. There are three O2 sensors in this engine, and I can’t be sure which one is responsible for the code, and I have never been bored enough to start trying to isolate it. The code causes no drivability problems, and judge for yourself how badly you want this nuisance to go away. Also, there appears to be a small area of rust-through near the rear muffler – it sounds a little louder than when I got it, but it is not to the point you would park it. A little muffler bandage may be good enough for a while. Nothing is hanging, or loose. As a convertible, the weather stripping needs some occasional maintenance to keep it tight. I have noticed a wet rear floor after a particularly rainy period. I can’t tell where from, but I suspect around the rear glass. As it has spent some time sitting, it is in need of some detailing, in and out but other than the dents and dings you see, the paint looks glossy and cleans right up. There is a seam split on the driver’s seat that needs a little Gorilla tape, occasionally. Summarizing the needs: Needs: · A/C does not work (has worked for a minute, then gives error code -- could be a charge issue?) · *another motor mount is needing repair/replacement according to mechanic - I've not verified · front brakes appear pretty new · tires - tread is good but age is getting up there. Depends on how many miles you put on per year· front seat has a seam split - gorilla tape is great · there is a weather-strip leak in the roof somewhere. Rear carpet gets wet after a rain. · passenger electric mirror works but drivers is not working (works manually) · O2 sensor heater circuit -- I've not been motivated to tear into replacing the three to determine which on is bad. Results in a check engine light. Drivability is great. · Muffler - a little loud· Trunk release works but needs new struts to hold it open.· Only have the one key – a valet – need a visit to a dealer to get a new master key cut. Can’t lock the trunk or glovebox without that. I’ve had it in my drive now since April, and my gumption to work on it anymore is done. I want to sell it as is and sign the title over to YOU for a little cash money. Since I am motivated, I would put this car as ‘good’ in KBB which puts it at $ 2,161, private party. But with those few things fixed, this is easily worth $2,400. Bid for your best offer. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Here is how it is equipped. Keep in mind I have removed the rear deck cover and seat to get to the strut head, but everything is here. You are welcome to go over with a fine tooth comb, but, you break it you buy it…☺
