Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1995 E320 Cabriolet after 13 years of ownership. I have a number of other cars now and I just don't drive it. It’s time for someone else to enjoy this fine automobile. It has been fastidiously maintained, and is fully serviced. All the trouble spots of this model have been addressed - it’s ready to go. If you are looking at this auction, you probably know that the W124 series, and the Cabriolet in particular, were the last of the "built to a standard not to a price" Mercedes Benz automobiles. They are solid, well built cars, that last. The Cabriolet was an expensive car when new - around $80K in 1995 - that's around $130K in 2018. Cabriolets have additional body strengthening, a complex soft top that disappears completely, and automatic roll over protection in the form of rear "headrests" that pop up in a fraction of a second if the car detects a rollover situation. The Cabriolets share mechanical and suspension parts with the other W124's so these parts are easy to find. This 1995 car is one of the last, and has the larger 3.2L M104 motor, Euro style headlamps with washers and a blacked out grill. I am the third owner. The first two were lawyer partners in Beverly Hills CA, I bought the car in 2005, when I was living in LA and used it as my daily driver for a number of years. We moved to Connecticut in 2013 and it has had occasional summer use since then, with no winter or salt driving. There is no rust on this car. It has been stored in a dehumidified garage. Car has a clean CT title in my name. The Carfax is clean - no accidents, no damage. It shows four owners, however I am owner 3 and 4. That occurred when we moved and I registered the car in Connecticut. All W124 cars have a few well known issues: crumbling wiring in the engine wiring harnesses, leaky head gaskets and failure prone A/C evaporators. Cabriolets soft top cylinders are prone to leak. All these issues have been dealt with on this car: The original owners had the head gasket and the evaporator replaced.I replaced the wiring harnesses, throttle body, and fuel pumps, and had the transmission rebuilt. Just prior to moving East, I had a new soft top fitted and the top cylinders resealed. The car has good tires (Michelin Primacy MXV 4), fitted to newly refinished OEM wheels. The car originally came with chrome wheels, but they started to flake and I could not get them re-chromed in Connecticut, so purchased a set of machined wheels and had them refinished. The set of 4 original chrome wheels is included with the car.Recently the car has been serviced (oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin filter, new battery). Car comes with original owners handbooks, spare tire, both sets of tools, wind deflector, MB radio/tape + Alpine 6 CD changer in the trunk. Car is fitted with working remote central locking - two fobs and two keys. All the electrical items work properly - cruise control, A/C, soft top mechanism, rollover protection, power windows, seat belt presenters, outside temp gauge, radio//Tape/CD, all lights, horns, indicators, wipers (including the headlight wipers) etc The car has a few stone chips and small scrapes here and there - mostly on the bumpers. See photos for details. You are encouraged to come and look over and drive the car. It is in East Haddam, Connecticut, about an hour from Hartford and about an hour from New Haven. If you are the winning bidder and are considering flying in to drive it home I would have absolutely no reservations about driving it across country. This car is ready for any trip, and just eats those highway miles. Fast, quiet, comfortable and stylish. On Jun-18-18 at 17:33:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I see that Autocheck indicates 5 owners - this is incorrect. As mentioned above, I am the third owner, from 2005. Carfax lists 4 owners, but 3 and 4 are me - as I registered the car in CA and then later in CT.
