Vehicle Detail
I'm selling my 1967 Nova sedan I acquired about a year ago. Great car but I have too many cars and need to focus on other cars in my herd. As can be seen in the pictures it's very original and in need of a cosmetic restoration. But is a good solid car to start with. This Nova was originally sold in New Mexico and has the correct Protecto-Plate and owners manual in the glove box. Motor is the original numbers matching 195HP 283 V8 (Cast in mid-late August; car was assembled first week of September,1966) coupled with the standard 3 speed on the column-a freakin blast to drive if you like stick shifts. It's well optioned considering the original owner ordered the manual transmission. It has front and rear bumper guards, door edge guards, Soft Ray tinted windshield, clock that rarely works but has kicked in a few times, push button radio (doesn't work), deluxe seat belts with re-tractors and full wheel covers. Current mileage is just over 74,000; not sure if it's rebuilt or original but, other than being cold blooded on cold mornings, it runs fantastic. Since I bought the car I've replaced the heater core (correct copper brass core-not a cheap Chinese tin one), added new tires all around including the spare and had the carburetor rebuilt along with replacing the choke thermostat with an NOS one. This was all in an attempt to make it start better on cold mornings but, alas, I find I still need to spray a little starting fluid up the air cleaner snorkel on the first start of the day. BUT, once I do that, the car starts the first time and doesn't stall out; then it will start and run smooth all day even after sitting 8 hours at my work. Brakes are new up front and the clutch has no issues. The 3 speed is sweet, this car doesn't get stuck between gears like a worn out car; it is all very tight and it shifts effortlessly. The windshield wipers didn't work when I bought it. Now they do but only on one speed and they don't always return to "park". The one mechanical need it has will be front end work-particularly the left side. I've had the front end aligned after I noticed my new tires were already thinning on the inside and they advised this was the cause. It's also starting to squeak when it hits bumps from time to time and it pulls to the left when braking. This can be a little treacherous when coming to a sudden stop so I advise the new owner deal with the front end ASAP. While it's a great runner it is looking a little tired cosmetically. There is rust in the driver's side rear quarter and small areas in both front fenders but that's all that needs fixing. Both front fenders have dings; the passenger side fender has a replacement moulding that I have no idea what it came off; and the hood has a ding dead center in the front. The grille and the headlight bezels are in really nice shape as are the bumpers. Until earlier this month it still had both original T-3 headlights in working order but then the passenger side low beam quit and I had to replace it. I couldn't bring myself to throw the original headlight out so it's in the trunk. The floors and trunk are solid as is the rest of the car from what I've seen. All the glass is good except for the driver's side windshield that has a rock chip right in the field of vision. I looked into having it repaired but someone has already attempted it once and a chip repair is a one shot attempt. I learned to live with it but a new windshield can be ordered if a new owner wants to look into changing it out. Also it looks like someone had the rear window re-sealed because their is primer and fresh sealant all around the outside edges (see pics). There's no visible rot at the window nor the package tray area. Overall the paint is faded, oxidized, chipping and flaking. All the upholstery in the car is original. The seats need recovering because of sun damage to the backrest of the rear seat and the driver's side of the seat is worn through. Carpet, armrests, door panels and headliner are all in nice shape. The padded dash loos like new. I haven't noticed any fading or cracking on it. Paint on the steering wheel and the plastic fascia on the glove box and radio face looks worn and needs freshening up. The speedometer cluster is super nice and the turn signals still have the plastic shield at the base of the lever which has normally broken off years before. If someone wanted to restore the car to all original it would be easy to do. The seat covers are available in the original cloth material through CARS INC as are the rest of the materials. Then a little body work and paint then you're good to go. I just paid for tags now it's registered through April 2019 if it stays in California and will be my daily driver until it sells. Nova's are not cheap to buy anymore. If you appreciate an all original Chevy II and don't have a problem with 4 doors, or you don't have the extra 30-70K people are asking for coupes, then this might just be the car for you. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION so please bid responsibly. Car is being sold AS IS/ WHERE IS. Buyer is responsible for arranging shipping if not picking the car up in person. Payment clears before I release anything. Please feel free to ask questions or request additional pics as eBay only allows me to post 24 on this ad. I reserve the right to end this ad at any time as I may choose to list it locally. Addendum: I had to cancel the auction I started yesterday because photos were not downloading correctly and neither eBay nor I could fix the problem. In fact, I'm not certain it's fixed as I write this. There are several pics available showing the small areas of rust/rot damage I can send so feel free to ask for those if you're a serious bidder. Or, if there's something specific you want pictures of, pleae message me and I will try to accommodate you. On Jun-05-18 at 17:31:30 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to provide some additional information regarding the body as I know how hard it is to purchase a car over the Internet. It's a big investment to make without seeing it up close. While I stated that the driver's side has some rust in the ad, the picture I planned to download did not get included when I had to re load the ad. There is some cancer in the lower section of the panel just as there are small areas in the lower front fenders. If you are considering bidding on the car and want to see these areas, just email me. Thanks again for looking!
